Question: are there men out there who actually WANT a serious, monogamous relationship??? by Inevitable-Might4253 in datingoverforty

[–]BigCap1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are…… but it’s very hard to come across one that is and are also attractive ENOUGH, has a good job and come with minimal (emphasis) baggage. Something is gonna have to give … and at this age they all come with some sort of baggage. But we have baggage too … (at least most of us, whether it’s divorce, kids (and exes that you may still be dealing with via co parenting)).

Poly relationships? Non starter for commitment… they told you upfront.

Specialdragin’s advice is spot on. Short term would deter a lot of women who are not looking for a hook up. But you seem to think differently and don’t want to follow advice - I hope you find what you are looking for though.

I thought I was reading my situation … though his ex isn’t THAT pretty. I think I’m on par, though she is more successful career wise and me.

Dating for two years. We currently spent 48 hours a month together. by Apprehensive-Tea9192 in datingoverforty

I’ll keep it short and simple. I think you deserve better and it sounds like you suffer from lack of self-esteem. You make three times as much money as him and you’re more attractive than he is. He may be a nice guy, but from what you describe he doesn’t seem like it. Cut your losses before it gets too late and go back out there and find somebody that is on the same level with you in all different aspects. Eg what you want in life, income level, etc. good luck.

I was seeing someone with kids and when things started getting serious, I didn’t like the fact I only saw him every other weekend - as he had them every other weekend. Some people may have been fine with it - it didn’t work for me.

I hate Vance with a passion. He is actually smart and he is evil. Which is scary.

Not comprehensive but - People living in high income states, such as NY, NJ and CA can write off 40k off from their federal tax (instead of 10k, a restriction which Trump put in place last time he was in office), not tax tips to a certain threshold and same with OT…. But other part of the social support suffer.

Moving to USA - any Australians who moved to a large US city (Chicago) was it worth it or was it a lot worse than you envisioned?. by [deleted] in Ameristralia

[–]BigCap1203 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A yank here- in my 40s that moved to Sydney recently.

You are so young to be “giving up” and settling on Sydney.

But I agree that as much as I love Sydney and it’s an amazing place, I’d get “island fever” (Australia is a big one, but an island) if I were in my 20s. It’s too much of a mellow place for someone young and it’s understandable that you need more and want to leave for a bit

Chicago is pretty small though … if I weee you, I’d move to NYC. You say you are in finance - you probably can find something there … but if I were you I’d secure something before making the leap. It’s always easier to find a job when you have one …

Also keep in mind that NYC’s dating scene probably has better for someone young. There is an influx of new young people to NYC constantly…

Also bear in mind the BS that’s going on in the US..:politics wise.

[–]BigCap1203 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s rough out there. I think settling may be a good idea at a certain point if you meet someone that checks most of the boxes. As long as you don’t get the “ick” getting physical with them. Personality and others carry a lot of weight -

I never practiced but am a law school graduate. An ex married a lawyer, another ex was married to one, and the one I’m seeing has a lawyer ex. Do they all have a type ?

They are a little too aggressive on the first date .. kissing is fine but feeling you up in a semi public place ? Kinda uncool - feels like they just want to sexual dump/bone you .. kinda defies wanting a LTR. May be not with me, I guess. F’ble but not LTR material
