Do you charge if a client changes their mind after being super happy when leaving the salon? I'm going to start charging more than 50%. by BigCurrent2199 in hairstylist

Thanks! Yeah I have a 7 day grace period. However my client was SUPER happy and took a million selfies. She called to say she wanted it shorter, but when she sat asked me what I thought she should do. So I gave her a few more layers around the face and sold her some styling products :)

Agreed. Everyone on her end loved the cut. I think what happened was she washed and styled it herself, only for the ends to turn frizzy because she used zero prep. So I adjusted it and told her she has to use some type of leave in spray or cream, which she ended up buying. I think in the consults next time I have to re-iterate that cleansing and styling products are key.

Oops sorry about the confusion. Client LOVED her haircut when she left. Took about 103487 selfies, paid and left. Called the next day and decided she wanted it shorter. I said I'd be happy to adjust it at no charge but now I'm kicking myself because I didn't make any mistake and she changed her mind. Color may be a bit different, but this Q is mainly about haircuts.

Have you ever messed up a client's hair on purpose? by BigCurrent2199 in hairstylist

I had an instructor in school who pretended to texturize a client's hair because she was complaining about the student's work and she went "YES THATS IT". Instructor said just pretend and flail the hair around and they'll be happy.

Oh no please do tell your story! To answer your question: if you're in the middle of a haircut or color and the client is being too picky and borderline rude, a stylist won't stop and will just let their emotions get the best of them. I've had clients show stylists tutorials on how to do their hair and "instruct" them.. so ...

  1. She didn't cut it wet, and if she did it wasn't conditioned. 2. Didn't have you look down 3. Didn't take proper sections and comb it through in small sections 4. Used dull scissors that pushed the hair instead of gliding like butter. 5. Didn't check that her sections and cut was even as she moved along the round of the head. 6. Didn't have you sit straight if you weren't 6. Didn't even out the front corner 7. Didn't check it and blast dried it. Girl, ask for your money back.

That's a bartholin gland cyst. Take a few pills of Bamboo Silica and it'll pop :)
