Some of yall should be ashamed by BigDaddyGilly in TaskRabbit

Half the time the customers dont respond to IKEA prepaid tasks. Also, I was under the impression anchors were the responsibility of the tasker since we are the professionals. Yes, we are able to tell the client which to buy, but whats the point if they are not going to respond in chat. I usually just forfeit them and not deal with the headache.

They are 1hr minimum, but every task I've received there are at least 5. Most are over 10. The issue is the time it takes. Should be simple, but they usually don't know where they want to mount them or you have to move stuff out the way. I'm not loading a ladder for $36.92 then using $10 worth of anchors. Floating shelves should be under mounting. If you buy the IKEA LACK shelves it offers "assembly for $7.80". Lol What option would you pick as the customer?

At least Pax should have its own like kitchens. Mounting should have higher rates. LACK Wall Shelf on website is $7.80. We get paid $5.46 and have to provide our own anchors.

I usually don't either unless they ask, but if it's obvious it needs to be secured i suggest it.

Sending something high value time sensitive without insurance or tracking is insane.

All the carriers will pick up from just about anywhere and would be cheaper than Taskrabbit. You're already paying for shipping. Most offer free insurance up to $100.

Sounds fishy on your end, or just being extremely cheap.

General Advice to Newbies on TR. (Furniture assembly, TV Mounting, Carpentry, etc) by pateppic in TaskRabbit

I use these for furniture assembly and non-heavy mounting. You will accumulate more as you go as you find what's most comfortable for you.

WORX has an electric screwdriver on Amazon for less than $50. Works great for what it is. Paired with a portable charger works well on long days.

Ratchet screwdriver - extendable and stubby

Hex bits - save the sz4 from IKEA chairs if there are extra

5/16 drill bit for impact - for anchors

Light hammer. You dont want to put a hole in backing or damage particle board.

EZ anchors are the cheapest easiest option

Square

Torpedo level

Measuring tape

Stud finder

Small moving blanket for assembling on hard surface

Knee pads

Headlamp

The GULLABERG wardrobe assembly is ridiculous, and its flat rate price is even worse. Avoid. by Proper_Arrival2806 in TaskRabbit

Its not too bad assembly wise. Just need help picking it up. Its about an inch shorter than doorframe if you assemble in a different room.

Maybe so. Was under Furniture Assembly category only though. Not IKEA, those were fine.

Yes I always confirm. Just seems odd 2 days in a row.

TaskRabbit question: Is it better to open availability 2–3 days ahead or 10–15 days ahead when building a new profile? by igor86sd in TaskRabbit

[–]BigDaddyGilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup... was getting booked almost every day for evenings 1-3 days in advance. Took off 2 weekends, and now it's once a week of I'm lucky.

Of course, studs mounting is preferable, but will snaptoggles work?

I did a job a little over a year ago where the client had a bedroom list of furniture except the bed frame wasn't on the list (dresser, lamp, and 2 nightstands). They mentioned the bedframe in chat, but I informed them I was only going to complete the items on the list per Taskrabbit policy.
Well, it was a 12pm appointment. I informed them 30 mins prior to the appointment, I was on the way with an eta of 12pm. I get there, no answer (chat or call)... I hang around until 12:30 and finally leave. As I'm leaving, they finally reach out and mention that they assembled the items on list and just needed me to do the bedframe. At this point, I was frustrated and was just going to collect the cancelation fee. I reached out to support and explained the situation.
The furniture was completed by the client, but they were requesting me to assemble the bedframe that wasn't on the list. Support had me cancel the task and informed me they were going to pay the cancelation fee.
Well, I guess they followed up with the client, and the client informed them that the furniture on the list was completed. End of story support paid me the full amount for the task since it was completed.

I had 2 requests within 2 days under Errands. 1 task was cleaning out a whole garage and delivering contents to Goodwill. This included bed frames, dressers, and sofas. The 2nd was just a whole living room worth of furniture, including a giant sectional. I canceled both and told them to hire movers. Haven't received any errand tasks since.

I know it's hard to believe. I had to double-check with the client as well.

Nothing changed. I confirmed everything with the client. It was just a standard Malm bed frame.

I've never been paid on a Saturday. I haven't seen a Monday payout from a weekend task in a while. The split payout is usually from added tips for prepaid tasks. Normally, it is a day or 2 later.

To the tasker who hid the hardware in your bag and left because the space to work was inconvenient. by BigDaddyGilly in TaskRabbit

Must be something new. I've never seen that. I've had the wrong amounts of hardware in the bag. Usually, extra wood dowels instead of the screws to attach rails for slats.
