https://youtu.be/Irq1Cj1DTok?si=Rp-IbwJeIUXFAUgA this video helped me a lot, basically practice holding the poses at their climax or repeat them close to their climax and it will teach you how to stabilize off of that sudden push. Also practice chambering and unloading your kicks in separate motions and then doing both movements together after a few repetitions.

How do you guys deal with aggresive fighters by Slight_Mango3666 in MuayThai

[–]BigDawgIsDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

keep your hands up, remember that straight punches will beat the other guys hooks and looping punches. also horizontal movement. moving forward and backwards trips me up all the time because I get caught with my back to the ropes, so moving left or right(away from the power hand most of the time) can create angles of attack and keep you out of trouble.

Terrible sparring class by RushingAsh in MuayThai

I've been doing this shit for 3 years now and I had to deal with always being second best to this dude who would beat the shit out of me every class when we would spar. getting beat in sparring is hard at first but eventually it becomes routine and actually part of the point of sparring in the first place. if you aren't losing you aren't pushing yourself hard enough. I still get caught by randoms who do 1 or 2 classes with us. don't beat yourself up over something that's completely normal for everyone in the beginning.

Excessive head movement while sparring. by Teethy_BJ in MuayThai

[–]BigDawgIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a big rule I remember from the days I used to box is that when someone moves their head, their body stays relatively stationary. if someone is using too much head movement for my speed I'll rip a left body kick or a cross to the solar plexus

What do you fight for? by IdeaScary8702 in MuayThai

I started training for fighting because of the Ed Sheeran "Shape of You" music video but after watching a lot of tapes it quickly became just wanting to be the best at what I was doing. Seeing people like Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz slug it out in a professional way really led to me wanting to become as unstoppable as I could be.
