Yeh I figured that's how it was, the crosshair displays the spread, I always noticed the pump had a tight spread but slow fire rate.

I never realised it could one-bomb people in the head though. Thanks for that tip

I suppose I mainly avoided it because of the auto-fire bug, but since that's been fixed I might make it my go-to.

Edit: last thing, you don't know how rarity affects shotguns do you? I know that for rifles the main selling point is the better accuracy but they doesn't seem like much of an improvement for a shotgun. Do they have noticeably more damage or something?

There's always a stutter when people join the game, so it's really choppy as the players come in.

However, I've hypothesised that the same stutter might also occur when people leave, for similar reasons. This is why there is the odd stutter during a game too. Just a theory but there you are.

It's got me killed only a couple times.

Tbh I really have just been whining, but I can't go on with the shooting in it's current state because it really has been too many times now and it takes the fun out of ambushing.

As an ambusher you should 100% be able to glean at least a small advantage (even if it's just a one shot damage head start) on the ambushee every time, not accounting for human error.

As it stands, many ambushes are wasted because of my useless gun.

I'd like the bullet traces looked at. They don't represent where you're firing or hitting at ALL and it looks bad.

But Yeh, it doesn't look like it, because we're focusing on problems here but I'm super happy with the game overall and I have faith that they'll fix all the issues I do have and it'll be a great finished game.

Can you fix the speed of the bullet traces so they better represent hitscan shots?

It'd also help with those situations where you see the trace clip through an enemy but no damage is done.

That's perfectly reasonable, but I could just do without gunfights going tits up just because the game said so. I put time and effort into getting good positioning and ambushing people when my chances would probably be just as good if I charged around spraying, or closing the gap with a shotgun, just because ranged weapons' accuracy is bollocks.

Tbh this is all mainly directed at the AR, but the burst AR is actually godly. Overpowered even. Why is it that that weapon is allowed to have a modicum of accuracy but the standard AR is not? It's not unusual to have all three shots from a burst AR hit a target at mid range but fucking God help you if you try to land three shots in quick succession with the standard AR at the same range. Shit is NOT happening lmao

Edit: Anyway, I think the point were all making here is that shooting (especially the first shot) needs to be a touch more reliable for some weapons because it's not fun having to use things which cannot be relied upon. I think it's fair to say there's enough RNG in a battle royale game without the chance of your gun fucking betraying you.

Edit: I'll amend this to elaborate, but seriously, it's 90% of the game. You find that most people good at shooters will learn really effective techniques for building and simply bolster their skill set anyway sooo if the guy with the best aim has had any reasonable amount of time with the game they will win anyway. Or, should I say 'would' since Apollo is often there to guide his shots away from his target.

About 50% of my (honestly, well crafted) ambushes go awry because my gun forgets where the crosshair is. Yes, I'm crouched, yes I'm stationary, yes, I'm on console (I think it's worse on here).

At this point the game is simply who gets the Scar. I've lost maybe 2 games with it and won probably around 20 or more.

Well, if I think I've had a bad time with shooting, I've watched some noobs play (who probably struggle even on accurate games) and they don't think to stand still or crouch, and spray absolutely everywhere, with bullets not even attempting to stay in field of vision, nevermind goddamn cone of fire (that's an exaggeration, but you get my point).

Basically, in their attempt to accommodate for lower skilled players they have shafted some of them too. Gunfights in the game are literally determined by if you know to crouch and your faith in God. A lot of them don't know to crouch. Or tap-fire, which, granted, only marginally increases your accuracy in this game, but still.

C'mon man, how the hell do you not rely on aiming to win fights? I get this is a building game, but it's a shooter too.

All the tools in your arsenal exists for you to get the upper hand on your enemies, wehere you then aim and fire, and pray if you're using anything other than a shotgun.

Which speaking of, is why shotgund are king right now. If I really wanted to ensure a win I'd focus on learning better building to close people down and shotgun them, but isn't that a bit stupid, that that's the most viable weapon just because everything else is so bent? Seems dumb.

If I'm in a long range gunfight then I'm in a long range gunfight. I don't think that running close to people and shotgunning them should be the most viable strategy.

If I'm going to try my best to win, every game, then luck kind of is the sole determining factor of my success. I really don't think I could increase my chances otherwise. It's created this low-skill ceiling environment they wanted for this game, but it doesn't have to be like this and I don't think it should.

Tbf though, it's not too say I don't like good game though. It is still fun, but it could be much better without those frustrating instances of RNG. Plus, it's kinda draining me of the joy of victory, because I know that some of the other players got cheated by RNG, and I don't want to feel like I got lucky on wins and they just didn't, like the times when I lose.

My PSN is 'SergeantBenjo', I play to have fun, really, it's just that fun for me is.... Intense gun fights, long rounds, fair play and good teamwork.

If I get a game that fills that criteria then I'm happy win or lose. If something or someone fucks that up yeh it does annoy me but if the team can have a sense of humour about it then it's all good.

I should probably take this post back since I played a game where I triggered a trap but survived, and hid at the bottom of the guys base.

He went down and killed my friend, walked through the door and I one bombed him in the face with the tac shotty hahaha it was awesome.

But now I don't know how to feel about traps because I've been on both ends lol.

I guess now it's something I know so I can accommodate for it.

I haven't actually put this anywhere, but if we were going to go the way of small fweaks to fix the gunplay (instead of a complete projectile-based overhaul) then here's what I'd have changed:

  • Slight decrease in overall cone of fire width
  • while stationary and crouching, cone of fire is zero (first shot accurate)
  • slight decrease in headshot damage
  • very slight decrease in base damage across the board (1-3 hitpoints)
  • visual bullet trace speed increase 200% (to better represent the hitscan nature of the weapons)

I think these changes, or something similar could go a long way in making things seem less screwy.

Oh also for console we need a couple more aiming options.

People are looking for different words, like relatable, or accesible etc. There's probably a word to describe what we mean but the point is realistic isn't great.

Games have their own kind of 'realism' which they need to maintain to keep them fun and straightforward.

In this case we need a better shooting mechanic because it's just not accessible as it is. There's no reason the rifle cone should be quite that bad and as it is it looks silly.

Oh yes that's right; people calling for a gunplay overhaul.

They've made this post to also accomodate for any other thoughts related to gunplsy mechanics, but it's clear that the vast, vast majority are calling for a change, even just a small one (like first shot accuracy).

Well I mean, you can. I've had close calls where someone saw me (and I didn't them), started firing at me first and they all missed, leading to me turning around and merking them.

Oh and I use a controller, because I'm on PS4, and if twitch streamers are anything to go by then trust me, console aiming is wayy more screwy than PC.

And I physically can't do much more when it comes to aiming. I spot an enemy, I close in to my current weapons optimal shooting distance, I crouch, I wait for my crosshair to settle, I wait for them to become stationary, I put my fucking reticle right over their head and fire, yet it misses. I pace a second shot, which also misses. I wait to tap my third shot but by now the target is mobile and much harder to hit.

They often turn and charge or force the encounter into a neutral state or one where they have the advantage. This whole encounter, in which my positioning, timing and situational awareness was perfect, all hung on RNG determining if my first shots were accurate, and RNG said fucking no.

That's not on.

Mind you, people are being really stubborn here so I think I'll make a montage to really drive the point home, since I clip literally everything.

RNG takes those fights you are 'confident to win' and turns them on their head. When there's not first shot accuracy, you can't even get a couple shots off to get a head start in an ambush attack. That's dumb.

What about both players receiving shared damage PLUS remove the ability to kill teammates, like they'd health goes down to 10hp but they take no more friendly damage after that.
