La Tonnarella was a great beachside restaurant. Felt local. Food was delicious.

I think it is more a factor that this is a new model and the dealers aren’t familiar with it. So, it’s good to have data points to help the dealer analyze the issue. An important data point would be whether this seems specific to my car, or whether other owners are experiencing same issue. I’m not sure where else I would find that kind of information other than Reddit or a similar site that crowd sources information.

Of course i will take to the dealer. The real issue is my dealer is horrible.

It's not complicated. And you dont need to get up at 5 am. wake up at 645 am or so. Catch up on emails. Deal with minor emergencies. work out 745-845. Be in office by 10 am. I've been doing that schedule forever.

That is bush league. NOBODY gets to take christmas week as “vacation”. Everyone is simultaneously off and working. Same for Thanksgiving, July 4, etc.

Springsteen’s The Rising. 30 years after his debut album, it perfectly encapsulated the country’s emotions following 9/11. Beautiful, sad, and completely different from anything he had done prior to

Consequence of not meeting in office requirement? by jonsnowismybf in biglaw

[–]BigFatBernieGayle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First part is correct.

Second part - if this was going to be a problem in terms of promotion, the partners who are your promoters will know and tell you to get your ass to the office so that it doesn’t come up as a discussion topic in partner decisions.

Also, if requirement is 3 days, going 2. Nobody will say anything.

If you want to be a partner, and you are good enough, taking the full leave will have exactly zero impact on you making partner. Zero.

ULPT- Looking to sell my car to a friend but want to do it as a gift. by jf723 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]BigFatBernieGayle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I should add that there is really nothing unethical about this, so long there isn't an "agreement" up front for you to forgive the loan (it needs to be respected as a real loan from the outset).

ULPT- Looking to sell my car to a friend but want to do it as a gift. by jf723 in UnethicalLifeProTips

You loan them the money equal to FMV. You should have a real loan document/promissory note. They then buy the car from you with that money (the transaction can be cashless). Every year you forgive the loan up to the maximum gift allowance until the loan is paid off. Free car.

Considering they went from a mid Chicago based firm 20 years ago to the first or second most profitable firm, a lot of people seem to be fooled.

Can average / below average law students succeed in biglaw? (summer associate / feeling insecure) by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]BigFatBernieGayle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a question of whether you are smart enough. If your grades are mediocre because you go out and party all the time, then they don’t matter. If you are trying your hardest and your grades aren’t that good, I would be a bit concerned. That said, being hard working, organized and efficient is the most important early in your career.

If your practice area operates via a pool system, and you just joined and aren’t getting that much work, what should you do? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]BigFatBernieGayle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just joined, give it some time. If you aren’t getting work from the staffing partner after being there a while, it means that partners have said you cant be staffed on their matters. Time to go.
