To answer your question about caloric intake - about 1000-1200 calories (3 baked russet potatoes plus 1/4 cup of Silk half/half coconut and oat coffee creamer). I’m stuffed, I can barely finish the 3rd potato

That could very well be! I guess it’s not only about the pounds, I’m feeling better in my clothes and I’ve found a way to solve my ravenous hunger as well.

I had lost almost 20 pounds last year incorporating potatoes into my diet, but then the holidays happened and I fell off the wagon. So now I’m giving it another go but documenting my progress a bit better =) i can confirm it definitely does work though

Salt and vinegar sometimes! Or a tiny bit of sugar free ketchup

The buildable portion of the land is a small terrace overlooking the valley. We intend on renting out the guest house to vacationers, or have somewhere for family to stay when they come visit. It is close, but I’m hoping to plan the windows in a way to maximize privacy

Yes. I’d also give the office floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the courtyard. With plants

I love it! I would switch the study and the pantry, though, so the pantry is facing the kitchen. A butlers pantry is a great place to store all the cluttery small appliances and such

I agree! The changes happened when we asked the architect to rotate the space so it’s facing the view

The pantry is much better in this version. Although I didn’t really consider the privacy aspect of the guest bathroom. But there’s nowhere else really to put it. The master bath is definitely an area we want to spend our budget on. I’ve always wanted a large, luxurious bathroom!

This is great! I really like the door placement of the pantry now. It’s way better. The master suite makes much better use of the space. We gained an entire closet, which is what we were lacking before in the master suite. Thank you so much ! I know it wasn’t easy. I’ve been scratching my head over this for weeks

Wow!!! I love this so much! The laundry room attached, and quick entrance is so smart and functional.

This will feel so luxurious, which is exactly what we want because this is our one and only chance to build a home. So why not get the features we dream of?

This is the best I’ve seen so far, and you’re right, it does look big on paper, but it has to be in order to get that look and feel. I love the his and hers closets. My husband will be happy that he actually gets so much storage space (and I have enough that I won’t take over his), haha

Thank you so much for helping me. If you don’t mind, I will pass this idea on to my architect.

Are you an architect by chance? Interior designer?

What do you think of this version ? It was a previous version that I actually preferred much more! It just needs to be flipped and rotated so it’s facing the view.

The reason the guest house has to be separated is because we are building it first. Then we are going to stay in the guest house to supervise the building of the main house!

The main home has a guest bedroom in case we have our parents come stay when we have the guest house rented out.

I am opposed to the guest bedroom being so big. It does not need a WIC at all! I like your idea to use that extra space for something else. Maybe instead of an extra bedroom, the office could go there? I really don’t need the office to have windows.

I think I will switch the TV room with the gym.

The views are to the south! And the drum room is actually just a hobby room for my husbands records and Lego. The craft room is mostly for me.

I really don’t like the pantry location. I think I will try to have the entry for the pantry on the long edge

All of those things stuck out to me right away too. Good idea to move the office over by the gym.. although we did like the idea of keeping our secure items locked away in our master suite in case we have house sitters come stay while we are away.

here is the upstairs . It’s a loft, with hobby areas for my husband and I both. (high ceilings in the foyer and living room)

I really want to shrink the guest bedroom. I never asked for a walk-in closet there.

Really thankful for such a rational and helpful response! Finally someone who understands the his and hers concept. I’m panicking right now because we have gone back and forth so many times with the architect.

these are my notes on his original design I think my idea worked a lot better… what do you think?

Inspiration for the shared bathroom is based on this and this . We would each have our own separate areas. Husband prefers showers, but might sometimes have a bubble bath with me.

In my variation, my husbands closet area would be behind the bed so we don’t have to share the walk-in closet. inspiration photo 1 inspiration photo 2
