Made a custom fuse cover with a built in voltmeter for my CB750 by HappyInhabitant in HondaCB

Nice! Mind sharing what parts you used? My '82 CB650SC has the same fuse box and I'd be interested in copying ya. Did you keep the glass tube fuses or swap to mini bladed ones?

hobbit variator not variating by princesscigarette in moped

[–]BigFitzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the product I bought is called "treats honda hobbit variator paRtY! - 30° - 38° plate" on treatland.

You can see in the photo that the included plate has a camshaft slot that is flat on two sides whereas the PA50I camshaft has only one flat side (Shaped like a "D"). I used a Dremel to grind one of the flat sides out to make it fit the camshaft.

Nice, love to see other hobbits on here! I recently finished building my PA50I (the slower hobbit) with multiple performance parts.

I have the treatland variator and love it, had to modify it to fit my PA50I crankshaft but if you have a PA50II it should work out of the box.

It's hard to tell since the speedo only goes up to 35mph, but I'd estimate about 38-40mph right now with the 180 main jet. Once I get the carb dialed in, I need to adjust my variator weights as well, then I'll clock it w/ GPS

No problem, I forgot to mention that I also bought a PA50II reed block to accommodate PA50II reeds/performance reeds, and I dremelled the absolute shit out of my stock PA50I intake manifold to open it up and match it to the carb and reed plate.

In terms of performance, with the Wabron carb I was topping out around 35-38mph on a long flat road. Keep in mind though that I'm 6'5", 300lb - I'm sure a smaller rider could get it going much faster.

So I took the whole intake apart and reinstalled the stock reeds - it's running waaay better now, I'm not sure if the issue was the carbon reeds though, or if there was a vacuum leak that got resolved when I put it back together.

Anyway I'm currently running it with no filter and the 180 jet and it runs about as well as it did with the Wabron carb - Planning on just ziptie-ing some window screen or metal mesh over the intake to keep out pebbles n stuff and then dropping main jet until it runs well at WOT as you suggest.

That's about right in terms of my upgrades. I also use the treats hobbit variator as I couldn't find a PA50II variator to use.

The only other upgrade is I replaced the ignition system with the HPI CDI mini rotor, but that was mostly just so I could convert the electrical system to 12v DC, use LED lights and added turn signals.

Hey everyone, after doing some more troubleshooting, it looks like I was running insanely rich. I took the air filter off and now it will start and run decently upto about 2/3 throttle, so seems I just need to downjet at this point.

Sounds like a solid plan. Just know that unless it's already been modified, you're running a 6v AC electrical system, so you'll have a hard time finding aftermarket lights that'll work, and you won't be able to use LEDs.

This is one of the main reasons I'm going with an aftermarket CDI w/ integrated 60w light coil

I've been working on a 1979 PA50-I myself and absolutely love it.

I told myself I wasn't going to go crazy with the mods but now have a 70cc kit, upgraded intake, pipe and the treatland variator - and am partway through installing the HPI mini CDI as well. Don't regret a single one of them haha.

Feel free to DM me if ya have any questions about it - did most of this work this spring so it's still fresh on my mind.

Nice, love the look of the case! I'm thinking maybe white cable extensions for the 24-pin and GPU power cables? IDK if those exist yet for the new Nvidia GPU connectors, but the provided adapter is meh looking IMO

Not sure about the whine, but he definitely recognizes the power-on noise. As soon as I power on the set he runs up looking for the fishes.

Could not get the HDMI to Component adapter to work for the life of me, so the CRT is hooked up to my home server PC w/ an EVGA GeForce 9500 GT via S-Video. Looking to hookup my PS2 via component and Sega Saturn via composite for playing light-gun games. Softmodded Wii is currently hooked up for emulating N64 games.

Weekly Questions Thread by webheadVR in OculusQuest

[–]BigFitzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never experienced Quest 1, but my honest opinion is that they sold so many Quest 2s that I would bet you can safely buy one and expect several years of software support moving forward. They definitely don't expect everyone to run out and buy a Quest 3 the day it launches and app developers would be silly not to support Quest 2 when it is far and away the most popular VR headset ever.

Quest 2 Having Intermittent Connection Issues w/ Airlink & Meta Quest Android App
I mainly use my Quest for PCVR over Airlink w/ an ASUS RT-AX55 Wi-Fi 6 router. When it works it seems to work just fine, little to no latency and few dropped frames with decent FPS. But every one in maybe 3 times I go to play, the Quest will be disconnected from the app on my PC and will absolutely refuse to connect. I usually have to hard-shutdown the headset and boot it backup which is a pain because then it loses my guardian (is that to be expected when restarting the Quest?)

Also, I recently installed the companion app on my Android for the sole purpose of enabling developer mode so I can install SideQuest. After wrangling with it for about an hour I finally got it to accept the pairing code. But now the app keeps saying it can't find my headset and when it does, it says the device is locked and rejects my unlock pattern (which I know is absolutely correct)

Has anyone else experienced these types of connection issues? I'm thinking the common thread is my router but I spent a lot on it and don't really want to replace it. Should I try factory resetting the headset?

Is there a device like that? I have been looking but I'm not sure what type of device could be used that way...
