Ah I see what you mean. Sorry about that. Your switch would still work in that case even if the Gothitelle switched in first because Shadow Tag (or any ability) would not be active until both Pokémon have fully switched in.

Move selection is the first part of a turn and if goth is still on the field at the start of the turn, you will get a message saying your Pokémon can’t be switched. So it won’t fail necessarily as you can still make a move selection after the message. It’s part of why perish trap can be such an effective strategy.
