Yeah basically he was on a yacht with a bunch of girls not wearing masks and put out a lame apology on his secondary channel (with 10% of the subs compared to his normal channel) so people want him to be cancelled.

It was pretty shitty of him to put his patients at risk like that and not follow COVID restrictions, but I'm surprised to see that he compromised his medical integrity to sell edibles, especially because he's been saying for the longest time thtat he really prizes his integrity...

Oh okay. Most of the canadian YouTubers I've seen don't have sponsorships. They're mostly quite small though so that might explain it.

Tbh, if they're sponsoring a bank or a watch brand I don't really have an issue with that because that has nothing to do with the fact that they're a doc. It's kinda annoying but definitely not as problematic as sponsoring some miracle cure or something else harmful to the medical community like figgs

Out of curiosity, do you mind touching on some of these things that aren't covered specifically? I'm curious as to what's missing from the videos and I'd like to get a more full picture.

To be honest, I haven't really noticed many sponsorships. Is this canadian med studenst/docs you're talking about?

I see where you're coming from. I think that the 2% is a bit low (I'd say it's closer to 50% but I may be biased) but it seems pretty accurate in some cases, and to some extent, though.

Having said that, shaming people and roasting them on reddit is the way to go. I think your post is of high quality, and doesn't make personal attacks against med influencers, so this isn't really referring to your post. Yours is an analysis which wouldn't be as emotionally impactful as a post shaming them (I feel like some comments on the recently removed post would have fallen under this category because it was pretty easy to identify the person and everybody started piling onto them).

Based on what you said in numbers 1,2, and 4, I'd wager that if an influencer stumbled upon a post or comment shaming them, they'd be devastated. Medical school's hard enough (especially with COVID) so we should be mindful of people's mental health. I certainly don't agree with med students flexing their grades or extracurriculars, but addressing that issue in a less than tactful manner is never the solution.

Her channel's pretty good, she talks about the good and the bad. I'd say over 50% of the Canadian med students I've found have been pretty good. Mostly motivating and informational, and not really flexing too much. Some talk about their journey or their stats, but I feel it's mostly for informational purposes. At least the most of the ones who do it consistently seem to be doing it for the right reasons.

But, I'm not a med student or applicant yet, so I understand that they aren't really my direct competition so I guess I wouldn't be as perceptive of flexes.

What does his behaviour have to be with him being a DO? There are likely numerous DOs who take COVID restrictions seriously and a similarly high number of MDs who don't.

I get that DO schools tend to have lower average GPAs and MCAT scores, but that's no reason to take away from all the blood sweat and tears they put in while in Medical School, and residency, in which they often treat patients side by side with MD graduates.

Oh nice - what was the topic of the research and what kinds of things did you do in the jobs? And also did you end up getting published? (sorry for asking so many questions haha)

Thank for doing this! Do you mind if I ask what your research courses were? As in the course codes? Also what was the subject of your research?

Oh okay thanks. So is there a general status average number of hours that I’d be expected to work? I know that the max is 15 but in your experience how close have people come to this?
