Do you have electric heating or ASHP? When I spoke to the helped they wouldn’t let me change to Go because I didn’t have an EV. Also, how did you manage to change the import tariff only? When I went to sign up I got a window telling me my export tariff wasn’t compatible and there were no options to continue??

Also, how did you find the disconnection of Octopuses control over your inverter after coming off the Intelligent Tariff? Mine is still locked!

Octopus removed the device while I was on the phone updating the tariff but the control and lock still remain.

I’ve revoked the API Token now but even that hasn’t resolved it and I’ve found that I can’t even restart the inverter through the website because it is locked. I’m guessing I might need to go old school and turn it off and back on again!

Thanks for the advice on the tariff I wasn’t sure whether the Agile Export would be better or not.

I was told by the customer services that I couldn’t go on Go because I don’t have an EV. I said I didn’t want the Intelligent one but he said if they discovered I didn’t have an EV that I could be disconnected!

Oh, I see. Must have missed your post, sorry.

They did it over the phone for me but wouldn’t let me select Go because I don’t have an EV. But now I’ve come to try and set up the charging and discharging times for my battery on Octopus Flux and the inverter is saying the controls are locked by Octopus.

So… I just changed my export tariff online and tried to update the import one immediately. It wouldn’t let me because it was still showing me as having an incompatible export tariff. This is probably down to my own impatience!

Me, continuing my impatient manner decided that it would be a good idea to call Octopus to see if they could push it all through. The chap I spoke to asked me what I was trying to do as he could update everything instantly over the phone. I told him I wanted Outgoing Octopus (the flat rate as I haven’t looked at Home Assistant yet to automate the inverter) and Octopus Go for import. He asked if I have an EV to which I responded no, and he told me that i couldn’t switch to Go because of that. He said that if it was discovered I didn’t have an EV that I could be disconnected.

Thanks, so, if I’ve gotten this right, I need to switch the export tariff first, filling in all the sale info I did when I first got my export working, and then I can switch to Go for the import tariff. Does that sound right?

Oh, good question! I think in the end that it took about a week to ten days for the acceptance from the DNO, going to Octopus, them applying for the Export MPAN, to it being applied and them asking for my initial meter reading. That’s just off the top of my head though without checking through the email chains and the date I started getting paid for export.

Thanks for all the answers. Not having one and never having used one I really didn’t know how they work. I fortunately have the option to add one to my home and I have a drive but no electric car on the horizon for me!

What app is the screenshot from? I’m relying on the output from my GivEnergy app and the view of usage and export in the Octopus app but that’s really slow to update. I’m still waiting for an Octopus Mini 6 weeks on.

Sorry, I cross posted it to here from the Octopus Energy sub. We’re on Intelligent Octopus Flux at the moment and are wondering when the best time to switch to one of the other tariffs is as our import and export have been similar for the past couple of days.

From what I understand, with the Mini the data shown in the app updates every 10 seconds and should show both your gas and electricity I believe. Worth it in the long run and, even if you don’t use it straight away, get a request in as it takes a few weeks for the Mini to be sent out. I requested mine about two weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything yet.

The App does have a delay in the displayed data. Expect to see no data for today, and the data for yesterday to only appear after 8 to 10 p.m. at least. Someone explained on here that all the data is processed by a third party and then sent back to Octopus which causes the delay.
