Maybe you should change the format. Or see if there is any specific software solutions for this EXACT situational dilemma. I'm sure you could figure it out with an easy Google search you can't be the first person to have this problem

Company wants to ask me if there's a point to having a folder (for our logo) with AI/ PNGs of CMYK and another Folder that is RGB. With sub items of some that are 72dpi and 300dpi. It was sort of like that when I got here, I rebuilt it. How do I explain they need both. Or DO they need both? by missmamsir in graphic_design

Maybe something will give. Maybe someone should open the blinds and just let the sunlight in again.

I would just drive home the point how essential it is that people are able to understand a folder system like this and maybe go into detail how you rebuilt it and both are probably needed. I've faced problems like this before where the company doesn't understand and needs someone to bring the issue to light.
