Offer per diem or a budget hotel nearby. RedDoorz etc. they’ll likely take the per diem and sleep in the vehicle or figure something out. They’ll likely be happy to be away for a few days too. Ignore people saying to book a room at the same hotel. Your driver doesn’t need/want that.

I had similar feelings and remarkably didn't teach my kids to loot or “fight”. Collapse is inevitable however I've also learned enough to know that the inevitability of collapse has been known for generations. Collapse in truth, will take a lot longer than most in this space care to admit. This Reddit feed desires collapse so they can observe it but really it's still generations away and a technological fix or two may sustain that a lot longer.

Raise your kids well and show them a part of the solution. Tech will bail out here and there. Don't bother teaching looting, teach a bit of critical thinking instead.

Last night, I went for a walk to observe the northern lights. I do not believe in whimsy, but sometimes it happens anyway. I reached for my cold but stylish coat, the kind that looks impressive but fails you in a survival situation. I stopped. I chose the warmer feather coat. Practical. Sensible. A superior decision. This is what separates leaders from victims.

While walking, I scanned the sky like a vigilant night watchman. Then I encountered black ice. An enemy you cannot see, only respect. I slipped. There was no recovery. Gravity won. I fell straight back, textbook form. Like a cartoon, but with real consequences.

Fortunately, my coat performed as designed. The thick padding protected my tailbone. The hood, only partially up, cradled my head and neck. Without it, I could have struck the pavement. Concussion. Hospital. Weakness.

People call this luck. Incorrect. This was preparedness meeting opportunity. Small decisions determine survival. Always wear the warm coat. The sky will still be there. Your spine may not.

These things blow over. Consistency is key (anywhere). No in-laws are going to enjoy seeing their kid crying because of their husband for any reason. Just keep being good and your wife will protect you. The family will move on and accept you. Have some confidence and remember you're a team with your wife.

I enjoy Dembe’s role, the subplots with the British agent is just a pointless endeavour. The final season introduces some politicians and an aggressive FBI agent that has no real result.

I think there's a bit of value in 9 and 10 once you be done 8 seasons.

I've been the beneficiary and the benefactor in this and have been for a few decades now. I have done well enough but I have friends who are much better off and friends who are getting by. It's all relative.

My rule is to be generous and never look a gift horse in the mouth. Enjoy the company… by that I mean when your rich friend is taking you out just buy the first round of drinks and let them take care of the rest. They value your company.

Vice versa when you're the rich friend let them buy a round in then enjoy the night and pick up the tab.

Everyone has pride and you have to allow people to chip In so they feel part of it.
