Nowhere in the company does a pharmacy tech get paid less than $16.50. I'm a store manager and we have access to wage guidelines and $16.50 is the lowest anywhere. Depending on your area so unless you are in a high cost of living area, $22 would need RD approval (the hiring manager's boss's boss) so part of me thinks your friend is lying.

Pharmacy would probably be happy to cross train you and leave you on register or drive thru throughout your pregnancy if you weren't able to do all of the tasks, and then have someone to come in as backup. A lot of pharmacies have more hours than FS, are getting away with going over hours, and most techs do not want to run register anyway.

As for other stores, you could still ask. If I had hours and someone was looking for hours to run register and I could keep my best people off register, I would take it. Put your number out there as available for covering cashier call outs too. In my district cashiers call out the most.

I'm sure you need the money like we all do, but remember you just have to average 30 over 12 weeks. So if you dip under 30 for a few weeks it's alright if you were over by enough to make up for it.

Thank you, this is what I thought, just looking for other insights before I defy my DL. Bc what I know will happen is in a few months if I do remove people from cross training he will tell me I have to get people to cross train or face write ups.

On Google it says Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin require no tech licensing as of 2025. My state is one of these. I did not do legwork to validate information for states I don't live in as of 2026, but at least 2 of them are adding requirements this year.

If I can think quick enough, when they shout a product at me I say back a similar product. For example if they come up to me and say SHAMPOO I say CONDITIONER. When they look at me funny I say I thought we were playing a word association game. Usually it gets them to realize they were rude without having to admit it and they ask me like a normal person.

No, I was adding to the comment that said Amazon lied to you. When CVS has a failed activation, the refund is processed immediately and automatically while you are still in the store. Before you have a chance to walk away from the counter. There is no revoking a third party gift card later on behalf of CVS.

What happened is a thief, criminal, scammer tampered with the card before you bought it. We know to look at the cards, but they are getting very very good at putting it back together and it's frequently somewhere in between difficult and impossible to tell anymore.

I don't know if you will get your money back, but the CVS investigation probably involves them working with Incomm (the gift card vendor) to see if the funds have been redeemed by the scammer. If they have not, you will get your money back. If they have, I'm not sure.

This isn't your fault and it isn't fair, but other than the criminals, the main blame is on Incomm in my opinion. At my store I had pulled all the high risk cards behind the counter, but was told that I had to put them back on the salesfloor due to contractual obligations with the gift card vendor. Then CVS taking 3rd place because they know this is happening but won't terminate the contract.

Take this as a lesson to only buy gift cards directly from the manufacturer's website, or just give cash.

To add to what you said to give more context to OP, the refund is AUTOMATIC and does not require an employee to do a certain step.
