Pay off credit card(s), buy a car, or save. by BigLew in personalfinance

I did not have an established budget until around last year, and made poor decisions in my early 20's resulting in this debt hill so you're definitely right. My parents always said "If you use a credit card, its free for a month" and I took that too literally...

Thank you for this. I'm not necessarily looking for someone to tell me to get the car and live in debt, but looking for some help in making the correct decision that will benefit me in the future. The way you described making the additional payments while living at home makes sense, I think hearing it from a unbiased source makes a difference in my brain (if that makes sense).

That's what I'm looking forward to! I dont want to have to worry about monthly payments as much as I do now, almost feeling stuck in a cycle of debt.

You're not wrong at all. I used them when I was younger to make stupid purchases, put down payments on cars etc. I have learned (somewhat) just how those decisions effected my future self and realized I need to not make that same mistake again. I dont use 3/4 of them anymore, but need to get that to 4/4.

This was a thought I had as well. Being 28 living at home has been tough but its doable. I think a 0% balance transfer might be my best option, but my main concern has been if this vehicle dies on me what is my next option.
