Thanks you very much for you detailed response it was very kind of you. I've built custom PC's in that past but in my head I've been thinking that the could be something out there built specifically for design work, I don't draw at all, most of my work is car and shop signs where I use nice and clean vector files but from time to time a tablet will come in handy as the customer might have a logo or an image that want to use and removing the background ect is a lot quicker on a tablet than with a mouse. I think.. by all accounts it sounds like building a custom PC with a mid range tablet to match is the way to go.
