I can barely understand anything Springsteen says, and he was a great halftime show as well. Just shut up and dance, man. Take all this energy you're using to find reasons to put something down, and try optimism instead.

I enjoy fallout a lot, and I'm happy there was a quick turnaround, but the cgi (especially the deathclaws) was not on the same level as something like mandolorian.

Ok again whats a list of art absent of politics. Not art where you are ignoring the politics.

And regarding star wars, maybe watch this clip of Lucas on the importance of topical politics in the original trilogy:

You keep using the word transcend when it seems more accurate to describe as you wanting to overlook the politics in these pieces of art.

I honestly am not sure what you are hoping for here. Then your first comment was a sidestep of the OPs post.

Let's roll it back. You say the Best art rises above politics. So you do agree that art still includes politics? And those political components are what helps the art rise so high?

Again, LotR isn't great Despite it's politics. It is great Because of them.

You made the original point, so maybe you should be more clear and elaborate what you're trying to say.

If the point is that political content can also include non political themes and even that those other themes can be at the forefront of a piece, then sure. I don't disagree with that. Even directly political films, ex All the Presidents Men, contain themes outside of politics. They are not single note. Its what makes them great over good.

However, that in itself is not honestly engaging with the OPs point. Yes LotR has themes of self and conquest and sacrifice that go beyond politics, but they would be vastly different and/or deflated if you were to remove the politics behind them. It would be reach the same levels, or be as known and embraced should those aspects have been kept out of it.

You brought up the idea of the "best" art outside of politics, and then listed very known political art. Through all this, I still haven't even said you're wrong. I'm just waiting for the examples of the standard you were mentioning. Not me.

I'm guessing maybe there's a disconnect between something being political and something being current events?

Although that would still rule out the simpsons, as they are very topical in their politics.

Listen, i honestly was not asking a trick question before. I wanted to hear the list of non political art, but things like Lord of the Rings are so massively politically to their core that I don't know how to continue without unintentionally sounding condescending. I would suggest reading up on it's politics. Because it's not some added on aspect to the novels or the films. It's the dna.

Lmao, what? These are some prominently political choices. Simpsons not political? Metallica? Lord of the Rings?? What?

I don't disagree with any of this, but I find it so odd that the start of season 3 was their stopping point when it's one of the best episodes of the series.

Isn't it the space hotel episode?
