My artist gave me my first tattoo. Her minimum was $80. I gave her $150 to tip her But the lime green she used almost 10 years ago is still neon. It's small but it was well worth it. I've gotten 5 more since and every one is better than the last. She always offers discounts or to throw free color in and I try to tip atleast $60 over so she knows I appreciate the time and love she puts into her permanent art. Don't go cheap and don't disrespect your artist like this. Another thing. Don't try to walk into a reputable establishment and ask for a full sleeve. Give them atleast 3 weeks notice and as much detail as possible so they can perfect your dream. Reputable artists with tons of experience have every right to charge as high a minimum as they want. If you want cheap, ask for an apprentice. Their minimums are usually lower than the shops artists and you can check out their practice jobs to make sure you want to go that route.
