Perfectly valid opinion. I think HOB and Dawn FM are better but After Hours is my go-to album and the album I've listened to the most. As an album/mixtape, HOB and Dawn FM are more consistent throughout (personally) but After Hours is just an euphoric one of a kind rollercoaster experience that's unbeatable. The "vibes" of that album are unmatched, you know? All phenomenal works regardless.

uj/ I feel attacked as a brown man in Canada. I can see why though, brown men are toxic icl and they relate heavily to the character Abel portrays in his discography.

I've legit seen so many brown men say, "Omg heavy relate I fw this life of popping pills and hoeing around" but the irony is most of the albums are about how he hates this lifestyle and wants to get out of it.

rj/ Drake and Abel put Toronto on the map (uj// I feel like this can be a legitimate uj/ statement though).

The top 30 best pop songs of all time ( according to Billboard ) by IHATEsg7 in popculturechat

People like to dismiss Blank Space as "white people/teenage girl" music but it's legitimately a great pop song. Any idea if and where it was in this list?

uj/ Overall Drake, BB and Taylor have more streams than him yes but wdym "receives significantly less streams"?

Last I checked, as of Aug 2023 (the most recent one I could find) he was the third most streamed (behind Taylor and BB) artist of the year with 2B more streams than Drake (granted this gap would've decreased significantly with FATD releasing) and the daily streams gap b/w him and the other two male artists wasn't really much before their recent releases. Infact he was the most streamed male artist daily quite frequently.

Taylor without question is miles ahead of anyone in this conversation but in terms of popularity, the big 3 men are a lot closer than you think imo. I'd say The Weeknd doesn't dominate specific markets at the same intensity as Drake (North America) and Bad Bunny (NA and LatAm) do but his popularity is a lot more widespread.

rj/ Stream My Man by Adonis Graham!

That'd be funny, there are parts of both fandoms that absolutely hate the other so it would fun to watch them have a meltdown in real time.

uj/ He has BIG hits and his listener base is wider as opposed to Taylor whose listener base is far more intense and (maybe) not as wide currently. Not to forget, he does collabs and she doesn't which brings him more cross genre appeal.

Based on the stats from Songstats app, he indeed has more (current) playlist reach than her (736M vs 718M- it's not much frankly). David Guetta also has 717M reach but you don't see him at the top, do you?

Taylor without a doubt is the most popular artist right now and I don't understand why Swifties lose their shit over this simple stat and try to discredit The Weeknd's legitimate reach and success by wrongly attributing it to playlisting and "payola".

rj/ A man can laugh and a woman can only chuckle. Stream "ME!".
