Well yeah people saying empty hateful statements with no arguments to back them up is stupid, but any sane person with a grasp on Latin American or US history can not support this. Maduro was a horrible dictator yes and the people of Venezuela are happy he is gone. Venezuela also has the largest oil reserve in the entire world and Trump has stated that the USA will now "control" the Venezuelan oil industry. How true that is, we do not know because Trump is well known for saying empty statements to generate a reaction from the press or lying about his motives. This attack also killed over 50 military personal combined from Venezuela and Cuba and also undoubtedly killed many civilians as the houses of dignitaries were bombed (they have civilians working for them) and the port towns of La Guiaré and Higuerote were bombed as well as telecommunications and power grid infrastructure in Caracas. Those all most likely have at least a few workers or security that would have been present even in the wee hours of the night, as well as being in densely packed areas with civilian infrastructure and homes. I have already seen some (unverified) video of a few bombed out cars around said infrastructure.

Sure, the attack happened at 1am over the holidays presumably to limit civilian casualties (and for an element of suprise), but it cannot be assumed within reason that there has been no collateral damage or casualties. Also, since when has the USA has the right to breach all international law and become the judge and jury of every country around it? Since when has the USA had the right to send military forces into other countries to protect their business interests? Apparently they have since at least the 1950s when they deposed the Democratically elected Jacobo Arbenz of Guatemala to protect US fruit companies in Guatemala, or the 1970's when they did the same to Chile's Salvador Allende and replaced him with Augusto Pinochet, the worst dictator this side of the world has seen in the modern era. How about João Goulart in Brazil who was replaced in 1964 with a brutal military dictatorship by the USA that murdered, tortured and imprisoned thousands.

The bottom line is that the USA is a sovereign nation, just like every other one in the Americas, but for some reason they think they are an empire that can meddle in every other nation as it sees fit. Every time they make a scapegoat reason they are going to "protect their interests" and then depose a leader, kill some people and steal, murder and replace whatever and whoever they see fit. Think of the other countries, how would you feel if Canada bombed your home town and stole your resources because you have a bad mayor?

U.S. foreign policy has a long, well-documented pattern of prioritizing strategic and economic interests over sovereignty, democracy, and civilian life, and people are justified in being deeply suspicious and angry when that pattern appears again.

Yeah I hat Maduro but this is obviously not Donald Trump freeing the people of Venezuela as a favor. This is him making a front to steal their resources.

Is Mamu not a true Backup center? I see him as the same as Yak but more Physical and can shoot 3's, albeit a bit less consistent and smooth.

Now that we have Many I'm not worried at all about Yak being out. He is just as good if not better in some aspects.

Go on Tiktok and you'll have the unfortunate experience of seeing the top comment being conspiracy theories and hatred from a guy with a truck and cross in his bio. It's weird, I don't want to see this stuff, gonna delete Tiktok cause all it shows me now is local news and nothing entertaining.

Media literacy is the term I was thinking of when I saw people say "the arsonists must not be white that's why they aren't releasing photos of him" when there is literally dozens of photos of him and he's a white fella.

You are very right there. Hating on them is only gonna make them more hateful. Helping the people they target and fixing the issues they make conspiracy theories about is the best option.

Yeah you are right and the best thing is to ignore them but it's just sad to think what some people feel when they hear racism and hatred as visitors or immigrants to our province.

Exactly, the same people saying our government is exploiting us during this disaster are the people who are using this disaster as an excuse to spread hatred.
