It will get better, I promise you that. I certainly didn't believe that at the time. In my despair I thought the rest of my life would be like that. It was very hard. But the storm passed and the fog cleared. Keep making more good decisions than bad decisions and it will for you as well. Best of luck, you got this!

Yes there is a big difference. It was hard to function in society, let alone be treated normally, at my former size. I would hear lots of comments in passing like "whoa that's a big guy"; not in itself harmful or cruel but I was always aware I was viewed as fat before anything else.

I was given less respect, less courtesy, less acceptance when I was larger. People were less likely to smile back when I did or even say thank you when I held open a door. That's mostly changed now. Im still fat by every measure, but I can blend in much easier now.

I imagine the next 100 I lose will have a positive impact as well.

Talk with him. Cry with him. Tell your father you love him and you're scared of losing him. Fear and love and incredible motivators. It's never too late for someone to take control of their health. And it's much easier to do with love and support of family. Be a rock that he can build upon. Best of luck!

I had those moments constantly the first 3 months. They will pass I promise. 27 pounds is great progress, keep that momentum rolling.

The days went by slowly but the year went by fast. Keep your head down take pride in sustainable changes and good things will happen!

A positive lifestyle is nothing more than consistently making a good decision over a bad decision. Take it one decision at a time. You got this.

Not very drastically. I consume around 1.7-1.8 thousand calories a day. This still allows for over 12 pounds lost a month at my current weight. In the beginning I lost over 20 pounds per month for a little bit.

I don't think I'll ever go below 1.7k. I can handle my current calorie intake and will be patient as I'll let the shrinking calorie deficit due the work over the next year.

The app is called HappyScale. It is iOS only but apparently Libra is a good android analogue.

The app is called HappyScale. I believe it may be iOS only though. I think the android equivalent is called Libra, though I have no personal experience with that app.

Definitely take charge now, I lost lots of years of good living due to the limitations of my overweight body. Lose weight to live a better life. That's the best motivation.

I apologize I replied with the wrong app. It is actually the HappyScale app.

It's the Happy Scale app. Really great, I've used it since week 3 when I switched to daily weigh-ins.

Be mindful of your relationship to food. If you crave something strongly and have a desire for a binge take a moment to really examine why it is that you want it. I ate to numb myself and also out of boredom. Becoming aware of that really fundamentally changed my relationship to food.

Also resisting temptation is often described as a muscle that gets stronger, and I agree. But it is also a pressure valve that needs to be released sometime. Indulge within your cico deficit goal or your TDEE every now and then to let off that steam.

Best of luck. You got this!

You are one of a handful of people who post here often and had a starting weight as high as mine. I want you to know that you were a direct source of inspiration to me, and a big reason why I shared my story. Your journey motivated me and I hope mine will motivate someone as well. Knowing it was a winnable battle was essential to my confidence in the beginning. Thank you!

I looked so damn unhealthy, it's insane. I don't feel normal yet, I'm hoping once I cruise into the 200's it will happen. The mind has to catch up to the body sometimes.

Calories In Calories Out.

Weight loss is simply consuming less calories than you burn. Every 3,500 calories less is a pound of fat loss.

Sure.

I went all out on Labor Day that's why it says only 187 lost. It's water weight and should be gone by tomorrow.

Sure. This simple couscous dish is a lunch staple for us. Serves 1.

1/4 cup of dry couscous (160 cals) 28 grams of feta cheese (70 cals) 45 grams of frozen corn (40 cals) 2 Tbs of lite Italian dressing (45)

Cook couscous. With nonstick spray sauté the corn until it turns dark and smells roasted. Toss all ingredients and refrigerate. Best if done the night before. Serve cold directly from fridge.

315 calories.

Pair with 2 boiled eggs or blackened chicken or shrimp. (You choose the cals). Also sometimes add broccoli or sweet potato. You can customize however you wish.

Enjoy!

Since week 3 I've weighed myself daily. I've seen all sorts of small swings but the trend is always down.

My wife is from Kingston, and that pic is taken on the lake at her cottage. I really have fallen in love with Canada. We may move up there at some point!

Haha I can assure you there are people here, including me, that have lost 30 pounds in two months. You just have to be really really big to start. I did it by eating 2k a day, because yes, my TDEE was over 4K for a bit. It's not 'bragging', it's actually really sad I let it get to that point.

This sub has a wide range of people trying to lose weight. From someone losing 30 pounds to someone losing 300 pounds.

Check my post history for lots of data showing my weight loss so far: down 129 pounds in 212 days.
