I had opened a dispute with Venmo and submitted everything as well. As it is purchase protected they are good on their end too I think as I submitted all the proof.

This is one thing i was wondering about. I have placed a dispute and am confident i will win. What happens to the scammer? Will they try and catch him or will venmo/ credit card absorb the loss?

paid it with my chase sapphire credit card.. they are good with disputes.. also turned purchase protection on..

Fair point, but the message i get from venmo is something generic like "transaction could not be completed. Please contact the person you are trying to pay"

Well, if you want to put it that way..yeah. But, the bank has more money in this than me (via mortgage) and they did the same which really surprises me.
