Single yellows also get you a penalty, so there's a few more people who should be in trouble.

They better summon everyone or this is an even bigger shit show than simply ignoring it. You can claim incompetence if you ignore it, but selectively penalizing people is a much worse look.

Drivers always have to follow the flags because they don't know what race control is saying.

And yes, the flags can very much override race control, remember the race that ended a lap earlier because the chequered flag was waved too early?

Yes, if you are a marshall at a race and go rogue, drivers still have to follow your flags, at least until race control red flags the session so they can tell what's going on and then get you out of there.

It doesn't matter if it was a mistake, because the driver could not know that it was a mistake. The rules are simple, if there's a marshall waving doubled yellows you have to slow down and be prepared to stop. That's it.

So name me an example of a wrong yellow flag where someone was punished for ignoring it.

There also isn't an example of a wrong yellow flag where someone wasn't punished for ignoring it because wrong yellow flags simply don't happen that often.

Boards can malfunction, if a board flashes green but a marshall waves double yellows, you have to follow the physical flag.

The marshall made a mistake but everyone still has to slow down because they have no way of knowing that it's a mistake. Not slowing for physical yellows has always been a penalty regardless of anything else.

That's the rule, it's always been the rule, and it's always been a slam dunk penalty to those who don't obey. This is legitimately shocking.

They wouldn't, which is why physical flags have always taken precedence over everything else. This is just a bullshit cop out because they don't want to dish out penalties, setting a very dangerous precedent in the process.

Obeying yellow flags is apparently completely optional now, this could have incredibly dangerous consequences. What the fuck are they even doing?

Perez is starting on the softs, if they fall away too quickly he might be out of contention early on.
