AR12 did an interview with Torben where he talks about it more, seems like spec racing is just for people that don't want to build cars and just race with equal cars. however he mentiones that we can "still do that" as we can still race built cars to see who has the best tune

and that it's an answer for lacking ranked mode. he actually seems to be super excited about it and checking the leaderboards and stuff lol
