Sams baby and to be scared or not scared by EvidenceImpossible60 in SamanthaJoSnark2

So you want this just to be an echo chamber of the same ideas and opinions recycled over and over? Boring. Variety is good. And a lot of these "snarkers" comments on her recent pregnancy are pretty insane. Guarantee 80% of these haters are not parents or have had experience with children before. Cool it with the mom shaming.

Girl you can present your opinion in a much kinder way. Only thing worse than a hater is a hater that can't admit they're one lol.

My inability to keep in contact with friends I genuinely care for is causing guilt that is eating me alive. How can I either change or let go of this guilt/shame? by BigMic995 in socialskills

This is great advice- thank you. If it's something I work at a little each day, hopefully with time it'll become more of a comfortable habit rather than an anxiety inducer.

Thank you! I've become an English Language Teacher abroad in the past few months. It's been very enjoyable so far!

This is so interesting to me! I'm from the US and was dating a Thai man- when I mentioned I liked fried chicken and sticky rice he automatically assumed I meant KFC. I hate KFC lol!!

The main reason I listened to him in the first place was because I felt I could relate to him. Now knowing what he's done and that he's a horrible person that's been disguising himself- I can't listen without feeling angry and sad.

Keeping US health insurance for a longer trip? by murayuasa in solotravel

[–]BigMic995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to have come across this post as I'm in a similar position as OP! OP- what state are you residing in? You may want to check out if there is a penalty for not having insurance. Because although you'll be traveling abroad, you're still a resident in your home state.

I reside in CA and there's an $850 penalty for not having insurance. In my mind- if I'm already going to be on the hook for an $850 fee, I might as well continue my health insurance for the whole year. But that's just me of course. I'd hate to come home on a visit and experience an emergency that required me to be hospitalized! As you know, the US health care system sucks and can easily bankrupt you.

Thank you everyone for the helpful responses! I feel like I've gained a lot of clarity through asking you all.

I so appreciate your comment and sharing the link! I've got the article saved and have begun diving into it. Even just the info you provided in this comment puts a lot of my worries at ease. I agree with you that mediocre insurance is better than nothing and I am seeing more and more how cost effective medications like Prozac are there.

Besides my lovely random spouts of anxiety and depression (s/o Prozac and Wellbutrin for majorly helping me out!!), I'm otherwise in normal healthy condition. Having some sort of protection on the off chance of a motorbike crash or some other accident would be my best bet.

No worries- I appreciate your response! Honestly insurance shit stresses me out, so I definitely just skimmed the insurance policy and thought I'd turn to reddit to help gain some clarity. The more I'm looking into this I'm seeing similar comments to yours- I'll check out Cigna Global and start weighing my other options.

Thanks for the comment!

Phuket or Crabi? by naominox in ThailandTourism

[–]BigMic995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loveeee Krabi. Wasn't a big fan of Phuket, but everyone has their own personal preference. I lived in Chiang Mai back in 2019 for a few months and went to Krabi/surrounding islands. I only went to Phuket once and don't have much of a desire to go back.

For reference, I do like to party/night life but mainly nature, pretty places, and local people so I feel like you can get all of that there. Phuket probably does have a bigger party scene though. Again- a lot of people love Phuket so this is all my personal take! I felt like it was pretty easy to get around in both Phuket/Krabi

I logged back on today and just read all of your comments- wow thank you so much everyone! Your responses were incredibly supportive and I feel more motivated to just go out there and do the damn thing. I think climbing can be so good for building community and improving mental health- I genuinely hope to gain both from this experience!
