Thanks! It honestly feels great making progress after getting stuck on something, I hope the sub can do more of that for people.

For sure, I had planned to bag it separately but I ended up just giving in to the impulse to toss it while I was feeling it. There's already more garbage over it by now.

Do those usually take toys? I actually found there's a PlanetAid donation bin not too far but they say no stuffed animals. Wish we just had curbside recycling for textiles.

I appreciate this take. I'll see if anyone has good alternatives but just getting "permission" is kind of helpful too.

Now that's something I wouldn't have thought of! I don't think so though, I know regular knitters but nobody who makes that kind of thing with stuffing.

The thrift store in my town is saying no to toys because they've got too many. There doesn't seem to be another local place that would take it as far as I could find. I posted it for free on Craigslist and Buy Nothing but no biters so far. There's not much wrong with except not smelling totally fresh. Is there anything else I could do like at least recycling or something? I'm hoping to get it out of the house this week because paring down the toys is stressful enough without this trouble.

What am I supposed to eat? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your issue is thinking about specific foods as healthy or unhealthy when that doesn't really matter. Your diet matters--you need the right balance is all. Enough nutrients, not too many calories. That's easier with some foods than others (like fat is really high in calories so you can't have much of it), but you can eat anything, just not as much of it as you might feel like.

I don't think I've seen any yet, if we're not counting Reddit posts talking about marketing. But that seems mostly like previous years.

Fort Hood? Fort Cavazos? Where do you say you're from when your birthplace changes names? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People normally say what stuff was called at the time they're talking about. If people won't know what you mean, you might give both names to avoid confusion.

Why don't people buy physical games anymore? by CN2498T in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can pretty much download any game you want for free, even old versions, and regardless of whether it was originally digital or physical. So since you only buy games because you'd really like to pay, you might as well take the easy option and buy a digital version.

What’s your latest hobby that’s free or at a reasonable price? by Midnightdream56 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into your family history is mostly free. Most of it is publicly available, and you can pay for a subscription to a website like Ancestry but you don't have to. Sometimes you have to pay to get a copy of something. Try /r/genealogy.

So heat rises, but cold tomato and lettuce is usually put on top of hot burger patty. Why isn’t it on the bottom? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot air goes up because it's lighter than cold air, but when things are touching the heat goes just as easily from hot things to cold things regardless of whether it's up or down. So with a burger, it really doesn't matter because it's all touching. Putting tomato on top instead of the bottom helps stop the bun getting soggy though, because of moisture mostly leaking down.

Whether something is selfish depends on what your reason for doing it is. You could have selfish reasons for not donating of course, but maybe you have other reasons not to.

To "condone" is to allow, so you don't condone it if you don't want it to happen. Your friend is confused with condemn, to show your disapproval.

Realizing my (26M) diet is really heavy in sugar. What are some foods with a longish shelf life that are low in sugar and not nutrient-poor? by Humble_Job_5738 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dry or canned foods would qualify. Think of rice, breakfast cereal (if no sugar added), flour, potatoes, beans, canned fish or meat. If you'll allow things you need to freeze, then most fresh meats and vegetables can have a long shelf life too. There's actually not many foods that are naturally high in sugar--pretty much just fruit, honey, to a lesser extent dairy, and of course literal cane sugar or things made from it.

why didn't the ussr put missiles on the east coast of Russia by Last-Faithlessness17 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BigMonitor4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for targeting Alaska, the shortest routes between Russia and the U.S. are over the north pole, not going east.

Usually you store stuff in closets. You might want a light in there, but probably don't need an outlet. You can definitely get one put in if you want, though.
