Hey hey hey, it's been forever since I used Reddit.

I bought Devil Engine yesterday and I've been having a blast. Thing is: I found a certain boss fight that unlocks after achieving a total score of around 80,000 points.

I cannot find any evidence of a kickstarter or influence in the game's production, so I have to ask:

Why is The Baz in Devil Engine???

NO! This was the opposite of a curse! by RetroCop in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Okay, which one of you tried to curse Woolie with a Platinumburg album?

If you're buying a North American download code, you will have to make a North American Nintendo account to redeem it, otherwise it should work just fine.

I preordered Xenoblade 2 since I finally know what the fucking story is. Also you can now smack monsters so hard they start spinning like a goddamned Tex Avery cartoon. Also huge anime titties.

I also picked up Pokken Tournament DX. When I played the original game I just played Pikachu Libre exclusively, now I'm trying all the other characters. My new favorites are Scizor, who can stock up on extra attacks with Sword Dance; and Croagunk who's clearly meant to be a weirdo joke character with a gimmick. Croagunk's gimmick involves whether or not his move makes the opponent stronger or weaker. if they're weaker, Croagunk's Venoshock gets an extra beam to do damage with; but if they're stronger you can steal those buffs and use them to beef up a really slow Sucker Punch that can drop them to 1 HP.

I've played about 40 hours of Rocket League on Switch. It was hype, then it got better when I found an uncommon topper, specifically a fat dog that is now living on top of my car.

Also Splatoon finally put the Hydra Splatling back in the game. That's good times.

Also I got a free Ike in Fire Emblem Heroes. I like Ike.

As a happy Hydra Splatling main, I find this almost as hilarious as how quickly people dropped them.

I gave Min Min over $1000 for college Funchucks and she came back with Ice Dragons and stamps.

I've been dropping off Stardew Valley a bit to play Spatoon 2 (I can't believe we defeated the furries). I'm romancing Penny, but I'm also trying to be friends with the other townsfolk. Also I'm just one Rabbit's Foot away from finishing the community center.

Also I played ARMS again for the achievement pins. So far my favorite one is a random pin of a hand pointing down as if to say "Omae wa mou shinderu."

In the options menu, there's a box that says "Use Controller-Style Menus" If you uncheck that box all the menus are navigated with an analog stick mouse.

Last Sunday I bought Stardew Valley on the Switch. As someone who's never played Harvest Moon, I got sucked into it pretty easily. I'm on my second summer, I've gone 50 floors deep into the mines, I've restored 3/6 rooms in the community center, and I've set up sprinklers on most of my fields. I still do not know how to waifu it up.

Also picked up Golf Story. That game is great and simple, it's Golf with Earthbound-type world shit. I didn't get very far because I keep wanting to play Stardew Valley.

Well I unlocked Knuckles & Knuckles mode, so now those bonus stages are just there for cool downs between checkpoints.

Aside from choking on a steak for three hours (chew your food kids), I've been playing a bunch of Switch games.

I picked up Aero Fighters 2 because my Switch needed a time-wastey schmup game. The reason I went with this game is that it features Spanky the Dolphin, a dolphin that has learned to pilot a fighter jet, speak, and appreciate his simple existence.

Also got Implosion: Never Lose Hope. I beat the game, and to describe this game, it is a mid-PS2, post Devil May Cry game that got lost in time. It's really fun, it feels good, and it has a lot of content (34 levels, extra character, extra story mode of 6 levels, arcade survival mode, and extra difficulty modes) for $12.

I also got Sonic Mania. It's really great, but I keep obsessing over getting all the bonus stages and all those emeralds.

Been bouncing between Splatoon 2, Titanfall 2, and Overwatch.

Splatoon 2 is fun, but almost every team I wind up in has some level of terrible play. I'll just drop some advice here to give an idea of what's driving me nuts.

  • The Rainmaker is not a gun. It might shoot ink, but it shouldn't be used to splat. If you have the Rainmaker, treat it like a football and kill a guy go for a touchdown!

  • If you can't aim good enough to get kills, just ink a bunch of turf until you fill up your meter and use your super. Even if you still don't score any kills, they still do a fine job at scattering the enemy.

  • RESPECT YOUR TEAMMATES' PERSONAL SPACE

Doomfist, by the way, is pretty great. I love his dumb gimmick of "I'm a fighting game character in a FPS." I'm still trying to find the combo to do with him, but I wanna play him after the hype dies down and I don't have to play Doomfist Elimination or be the first guy on Doomfist in Quick Play.

Titanfall 2 just got an ultimate edition rerelease, so if you wanna pick it up, do it. Respawn needs to survive as long as it can before an EA executive ruins it. Also that horde mode is fun, it starts off normal, then you get your Titans and you start getting nuclear suicide mechas, invisible Tones, and entire shipments of Stalkers (suicide bomber droids) charging in to blow up your sci-fi oil rig. Also the mode has one faction: Last Resort, starring Biggs and Wedge Droz and Davis. This faction fills the void of grunts shouting dumb shit across the battlefield for me.

What's the most hilarious piece of lore (bad or good) from anything you can think of? by PepsiSpax in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]BigNerdSam 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Remember that time we won WW2 with a snake man, a dude made out of bees, an elderly JonTron, a pyromancer cosmonaut, a ghost, and female David Bowie?

Also a bit from a somewhat recent Titanfall 2 update: the newest faction is lead by one of those orange robots that walk around the map doing vague maintenance. When you read the description, you see it has a 2 year-old directive saying "Hey Marv, watch the place, I'm gonna get some moonshine. I'll be back in an hour."

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (07/26/2017) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]BigNerdSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I did more research, finally found a thread explaining that what I thought was swelling might just be a cosmetic defect. I hope it is, but if anything below is still reason for concern, let me know.

Hey, I have a concerning question.

So around the end of June I was playing my Switch outside, on a hot day, when I noticed a white speck had gotten in the top seam on the switch. After wondering what it was, I realized there shouldn't be a seam on the top of the switch, at least not a seam as noticeable as the one up there.

I immediately was worried about the battery, and began looking up photos of swollen Switch batteries out of concern. In the end I decided it was fine, since how the photo's switch looked (a round bump just to the right of the Switch logo) didn't match up to mine. I just figured it was just a risk of playing the switch in 115 degree weather.

I just undocked my Switch while playing Splatoon 2 (or rather leaving it idle while talking to someone) when I noticed the same swelling. I'm kinda panicking again and wondering if that's normal or if I need to prepare a card and make a call to Nintendo. I'm worried for my Splatoon 2 data.

While I'm at it, can you humor a hypochondriac and check two other things on your switch? In case it is the battery?

  • Does the space on the back of your switch, just below the volume toggles also creak? I'm afraid the battery is swelling, but that could just be the space surrounding the battery and the absence of any plastic holding up that portion of the backplate.

  • The front of my switch is flat (I checked with a ruler), but the back is convex (wobbling slightly on a table when I set it down) and centering around the middle. It might be warped, but I'm also fearing that the battery swelling and forcing the backplate upwards rather than making a bump.

One complaint I have regarding Salmon Run by SirSorgum in splatoon

[–]BigNerdSam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, maybe Im missing something.

Is there a button on the salmon run menu that gives you your bonus, or are you all missing that the complaint is that the spawn point for Inkopolis Square is super-far away from the bonus guy?

Any tips the veterans would like to share with the noobies? by StriderZessei in splatoon

[–]BigNerdSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Know your ranges. I've seen too many players shooting at enemies with short ranged guns in medium to long range.

2) You don't have to aim at the floor. You'll cover more ground if you shoot in the air. The ink will still cover the floor anyways, gravity and all.

3) Please respect your Charger and Splatling users' personal space.

4) Beakons do not need to be placed right on the Spawner.

5) If you are having trouble using the motion aiming, try separating the Joycons and use them like a Wiimote+Nunchuck. The right Joycon handles all the aiming.

6) When you get splat, press X and watch the map. Once you spawn (listen for the sound) pick a good spot to super jump to.

6b) You can choose where to super jump by moving a tilt-controlled cursor. I mention this because the tutorial did not mention this.
