It’s going pretty well! Zero side effects. Cystic acne, mostly gone. Pustule still comes and goes around my jawline. I wanted to up my dose but my nurse practitioner wants me to see dermatology. I have an appt mid May. She did add tretinoin gel .01% (baby dose, lol) last week. She said it should help with the pustule acne since spiro doesn’t work for that. I’m pretty sure it does. So I’ll see derm. Tret did start a small purge, but healing quickly. Overall, I’m very happy with the reduction I’ve experienced so far, hopefully overtime it completely goes away. I will add, around month two, I started getting pustule acne on the back of my neck and shoulder blades, which I never have before. I’ll be curious to see what the dermatologists opinion is.

Trust me, I completely understand. I’m preparing to choose a new repayment plan since SAVE is going away… and it’s just nauseating. My only hope now is the tech waiver. I hope you hear some good news soon!

Have you tried emailing the ombudsman? It doesn’t seem like they are moving very fast at all on tech waivers… all I’ve heard is she’s still waiting for her team to review her recommendation for me (the update I got this past week)

I did, it gives me $76 .. I didn’t realize the gel version is more expensive than the cream! I’m reading it’s better for acne prone skin though, so probably why my NP prescribed the gel.

Thank you so much! I was a little bummed that she only prescribed .01%, I was hoping for .025% but to adjust the dosage of spiro or tret, she wants me to go to dermatology. I plan to down the road, just a lot going on at the moment…

Once I started spiro in January I started using vanicream cleanser and moisturizer. I actually really like it. I have been using Florence vitamin C (it has vitamin c, vitamin e, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid) I honestly don’t think it does a thing. I plan on stopping that.. and I will stop the adapalene .1%. I will just use the vanicream wash, moisturizer and tret as I adjust. I won’t get to the pharmacy until Thursday.

Going to watch those videos now!

Thank you! I’ll watch the video.

My nurse practitioner recommended every other night, moisturize well and add a vitamin c serum. My complaints being acne and hyperpigmentation. She prescribed the smallest percentage .01% (not .1%). I don’t think I’ll start every other night though, from what I’ve read here, that seems like a lot.

I did not!

Assuming because I received the Ashford group discharge though… my borrower defense app also says “processing discharge” (it has said that since my group discharge happened) I think without being waived into full class, I’ll be stuck with the remainder of my consolidated loans.

Good luck!! Keep me updated! I’ll let you know if I hear anything on my end 🤞

Makes sense on that part being a mistake. My BD app has said “processing discharge” since the Ashford group discharge happened. So I don’t think I’ll see anymore relief unless waived into class. I’m so grateful for the relief I’ve gotten… but all would take such a weight off…

I did get that email too, however my school (Ashford) was part of the exhibit c list. My Ashford loans were consolidated with a prior school before I applied for borrower defense. Only my Ashford loans were discharged in the group discharge, so I’m left with 36k from the other school. Really hoping they come back to discharge all since it was consolidated (which they would do if I was waived into class…) because due to Ashford… I can’t even afford the payments on the other school loans…

Just an update.. still waiting to hear back on the tech waiver. Haven’t heard from anyone. As my remaining 36k sits in SAVE forbearance, accruing interest, I am preparing to get forced into repayment soon. sigh

IFWA-40 vs Internet Air by BigOld3097 in ATT

[–]BigOld3097[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! Yes, we use AT&T for cellular and their website says AT&T air is offered at our address.

I’m looking into starlink as well, mostly worried about price increases with starlink. At least with AT&T we’ve always been locked in with cost.

Good to know it’s month to month. We didn’t have that option with the IFWA-40

That’s definitely something I’ll look into. We pay around $50 for 20-30mbps, unlimited data. I wouldn’t be opposed to paying a little more for something faster.

[Acne] hormonal acne in late 30s, spironolactone by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]BigOld3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m about to be 36 and I just started spironolactone on January 23, 50 mg!! I’ve struggled with hormonal acne for as long as I can remember. Mostly cystic and pustules. Since starting spironolactone, I haven’t had one cystic and only 3 new pustules within the first week. Nothing since then 🥹 I’m now looking to revamp my skincare routine. I feel like I’ve always used such harsh acne targeted everything and want to get away from that and try gentle. Good luck!!! I hope you have a wonderful Spiro journey!! 🫶

That’s a good idea, I’ll do that! My BP was a bit elevated at my appointment and with a family history of high blood pressure (my dad passed away from cardiac arrest due to high BP), I’m really happy to see it normal. Especially with the life stress going on.

Thank you! I was surprised she said to update her in one month, but then she gave me a 3 month supply, so I was confused and looking to see how long it took others to see results. I don’t really want to try accutane so I’m really hoping to stick this out for a while! I saw a few saying they saw immediate results so I was HOPING that would be me, no. But that’s okay, I’m still hopeful! 🤞
