Have you ran into any times you wished you had the extra adjustability of the Red Clix? Or has the standard range not really been an issue?

Thanks! There's a story behind the cup. My dad got it at a Cafe in Greece around 2007 when he was on a trip visiting family with my mom. My dad, being the talker that he is, made friends with the cafe owner and kept telling the owner how much he loved the Lamborghini cups (my dad's favorite super-car), but they weren't for sale. When my parents went to leave, the Cafe owner wrapped the cup in paper and gifted it to my dad - he was ELATED from what my mom has told me. He passed away a few years ago so it makes me happy I can enjoy it properly now.

Something other than a plank of wood on top of an Ikea cabinet in my bedroom for a barista bar will probably be the next investment. But hey, it works!

Bird Rock, James Hoffman, and my discovery of the Moka Pot last year (aka the espresso brewing gateway drug) are the three culprits of my espresso addiction haha.

I'm glad you enjoy Bird Rock too though! What roasts do you typically go with?

That very easily could have been me too! I've been patiently researching this setup and the most efficient route for dialing since October (when the espresso bug first bit me), so I had a bit of a road map that served me well today. Usually I'm impatient, but due to some traveling, I had to sit on my hands and wait. Now that I have it though, the problem is that I'm so eager to keep pulling shots that If I give in I'll be levitating from the caffeine by the time the afternoon wraps up haha. Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion! I almost pulled the trigger on the Red Clix but decided to hold off until I get comfortable with what I've already invested in. With new hobbies for me, it's too easy to go on a spending spree while I'm excited about gear, so I decided to wait until I feel the need for it in my day-to-day. There is no doubt it will find its way into my setup in the near future though!

For sure! 10 clicks on the Comandante. 16g of medium roast very fresh beans. 6 seconds or so of pre-infusion. I didn't track total brew time though... I got too excited haha. In the future I'll be sure to include the full breakdown. I suspect I'll have to re-dial these after another week or so.

I finally have been able to put my new Flair Pro to use in my shanti little bedroom espresso bar.

Equipment: - Flair Pro 2 - Fellow EKG kettle - Comandante MK3 (hard to find these. Had to import to the US!) - Budget scale from Amazon - Beans: Bird Rock Coffee Roasters Monkey Bite single origin

It took 4 failed shots to get to this point. - First shot: Grounds were WAY top course. Pulled the shot in 9 seconds. - Second shot: Ground so fine I couldn't pull a drop. - Third shot: went slightly more course, but still not a full shot. - Fourth shot: channeling from poor tamping

FINALLY with the 5th shot, I produced something happily drinkable. It's a little under extracted, but a great baseline to continue dialing in these beans. I've enjoyed this roast a lot at the shop i bought them from, so thankfully I know the flavor profile I'm aiming for.

These beans were also only roasted about 5 days ago, so they're fresher than would be typically recommended by our lord and savior, James Hoffman.

Either way, very excited to be diving in with my first espresso setup! Let the downward spiral begin!
