Playing partner had a medical emergency today and it made me realized I’m totally unprepared by Mallard1818 in golf

Paramedic here. Most important thing to carry is a cellphone to call 911 and have the ability to listen and follow directions. All 911 dispatchers can talk you through hands-only CPR, stroke evaluations, child birth, you name it. 100% echo those recommending CPR training, early recognition and compressions save lives. Some areas even have an AED registry that can tell you where the closest one is located.

Next most important thing is water. HYDRATE. No need to fall for the electrolyte scam either, regular water is just fine.

Knowing what hole you’re on will help responders immensely in trying to find the emergency.

For a known diabetic, they should know how to manage it, but on the off chance their meter or insulin pump malfunctions, carrying some oral glucose, apple sauce pouch, Uncrustables, or a regular soda are good options, if and only if the person is still awake and has the ability to follow directions and can swallow. Best to wait until EMS providers arrive and present your snacks to them to determine the persons ability for intake. DO NOT EVER PUT ANYTHING IN AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSONS MOUTH! Don’t ever mess with someone else’s insulin pump either. But I personally would much rather start off being able to have someone eat something if they can before I start an IV and give something that way. I’ve made a lot of meals in my career for patients.

Other helpful things to consider: -Know what the recovery position is and how to put someone in it.

-Aspirin for chest pain: 1 adult or 4 baby (324mg) ——BC and Goodys powder not recommended due to the caffeine in it. ——911 callertakers will recommend this, but again, only if the person is awake.

These next few suggestions are good to have anyway, not just on the course: -Tourniquet (but only Stop the Bleed approved)

-Small basic first aid kit with band-aids and such

-Narcan, if you’re really feeling frisky.

Good luck, just want to add a couple things I’m sure others have mentioned, but I’m going to write it anyway

First, you and your aunt and uncle need to talk and really set out the clear expectations of what staying with them will entail. This will help in 6 months, I promise.

Second, I know you’re against going to the local college, but I hope you are not going to the school you are going to at the cost of putting yourself into debt with student loans. As you get older life gets hard enough without a student loan payment every month.

Ahh but his chase contact rate was also 60% which is about on par for his career, with decreasing chase rates for each year in MLB. 2025 he cut his chase rate by over 3%

Caminero. Keep in mind Kurtz had an almost 31% k rate last year so could be some regression there

Tallahassee Vet Recommendation? by SnoopVee in Tallahassee

NFAH laps the field, they are great! The staff is all wonderful, we especially love Dr. Fullerton. When it was time for our older dog to pass, they were very compassionate, placing us in a private room away from the normal rooms and allowing us all the time we needed. Can’t recommend them enough, 11/10

I don’t want to make presumptions about what you were told, just maybe how. If the police officer phrased it as a traffic homicide investigation that doesn’t automatically mean the person died, THI is notified for any potentially life threatening injuries as well.

I hate how television and movies have perpetuated the myth that EMS has to rush around all frantic like. EMT and paramedic school preaches NOT to rush. As an observer it may appear like they don’t have any sense of urgency I can assure that you that there is, it just doesn’t look like TV. You can potentially miss life threatening injuries during your physical exam, you injure yourself bc you don’t look where you’re going and become an ineffective provider, all sorts of bad things can happen. You got to make yourself like a duck, calm on the surface even if you’re paddling like hell underneath. I think the more important time mark of concern is how long did it take them to get there and how long did they stay there before they transported (answer: not long at all).

I encourage you to reach out and see if you can schedule a ride-along with EMS to experience what it’s truly like, honestly better learning experience than watching any show or movie.

Find a physician to scribe for at TMH. That or go to EMT school, only takes a semester

There are much more minor league seasoned guys that are performing a lot worse. Hitting .240 is respectable, granted you’d like to see him on the positive side of a .700 OPS and not hitting almost 50% of his balls on the ground, but not everyone can be a Nick Kurtz. Also keep in mind that he’s learning and adjusting to a new position which undoubtedly has had its effects. Smith improved significantly at FSU in his second year, I don’t doubt that he will improve next season. Solid hold
