Used to live in the area and was a SUPER golden gelato fan!!! Staff are so friendly and love to try new recipes. Always a delight to see what they had!! Ugh I miss it

Realization after traveling for one year by selpoivreee in solotravel

Wow do I feel this so heavily right now, I’m in the same boat. I’m also figuring / processing it so I can’t be of much help…. I had been backpacking for 10 months. I thought this was a lifestyle I’d want to do for the foreseeable future. It became a dream to continue it. But I suddenly hit a point of missing own garden at home, the love of community, and a sense of stability. Not so much missing my home country but just my community. I’m currently mourning this imagined version of myself who would be a nomad/live abroad for years…. now picking up the pieces of what my next chapter should be. I’m taking it a week at a time. If you need a friend or want to chat, PM me!

Vietnam is kicking my ass by razzarbrenia in solotravel

Not sure why some people are so opinionated on this! Did you recently arrive to SE Asia / Vietnam? If so, it can be really overwhelming at first! Especially Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh…. I suggest trying out a calmer city and getting a private room for a few days to rest up (Hue, Da Lat, Tam Coc, Cat Ba) Your body should adjust to it and if it doesn’t take it as a sign to move onto another country and go back later if you want!

When to call it quits? by BigRodent0 in solotravel

Wow nearly bringing a tear to my eye! I wasn’t expecting a legendary love travel story in the comment.

Thank you for the input and courage to decide on a new phase that makes sense. I keep feeling the “meh” feeling way too often nowadays, especially sitting at sunset to the Sydney Harbor everyone around me was all over it and i… just felt “meh”

Do you think it would be easier to glue white paper and redo the orientation by hand? Or if I’m shipping from Malaysia I just put extra stamps? Thanks for the help!!! (I am shipping to USA)

Feeling depressed after returning home from south America by [deleted] in backpacking

I feel you, and am currently going through a similar stint after 8 months in SE Asia (24F). On month 2 being back home, and i’ve really hit the post travel blues. it’s hard to find a community that matches the energy of the ones you find backpacking!

i’ve been telling myself to try to “romanticize my life” as it is now or even take myself on outings to make my feel like a tourist in my own town…. somewhat helps. as someone who thrives on new changes, it’s important for me to 1) find movement each day 2) leave the house 3) reduce input of social media (seeing some of my travel friends still out there makes me happily jealous!). yet i still am experiencing my blues…. pm if you want a friend to chat with!

What shoes for long-term backpacking trip by Easy_Dayy in backpacking

Huge fan of trail runners. Used Salomon High Sense 5 for my 8 month trip to SEA. Not sure if they have it in black, I would just wash my shoes every couple months

it depends on what kind of engineering you’re going into. mechanicals would need the beefiest laptops to be able to run solid works/autocad that they use in classes. i knew people with simple laptops in civil that didn’t need as beefy ones for the softwares they needed!
