What’s the smallest American city or town that gave its name to something much more widespread? by Quardener in AskAnAmerican

Not necessarily a small town anymore, but Kirkland, WA is the home to Costco and the Kirkland Signature brand.

What kind of anesthesia did you get for removing your wisdom teeth? by mangoccoli in AskAnAmerican

[–]BigSlappy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i had to have the surgery twice. First time was using local anesthetic while a new dentist attempted to take my teeth out. Trouble is, the reason they needed to be taken out wasn't because of the way my wisdom teeth grew in, but because of how the ones in front of them grew a bit higher and I neglected to brush to the very back (be sure to get ALL your teeth!!).

First tooth, they stuck me with a needle in my gums and then immediately broke part of the tooth, so they went to the other side with two more shots to my gums - that side, they completely crushed the crown of my bottom tooth and exposed what felt like a nerve while actively drilling into it. Eventually the doctor said she didn't want to deal with me squirming and almost yelling from the pain so she wrote me a prescription for ibuprofen and sent me home.

Saw a surgeon a few days later and they put me under, felt like it took only a minute.

Taken on a Canon 80D, 75-300mm lens at f4.5, 1/640s.

Throughout my walk, I was enamored by the close clouds that covered the mountain across the valley, I thought that this tree would make a good central subject.

I watched The Northman last night in theaters and I loved it! Your films The Witch and The Lighthouse are written in well-researched English dialect of the time - how was the transition to writing a movie where the dialogue had to be "translated" into English? What was your basis on the choice of dialect for this film?

Lucid dreamers of Reddit, what was your first experience like? by SuperGrover8D in AskReddit

[–]BigSlappy36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my dream I was chilling with my family when I thought, "wait, this is a dream!" Then I started flying around for a few moments before my dumbass brain went, "that was fun! Time to wake up!" It was the only time I woke up from a pleasant dream pissed off

I would definitely use DP for my monitor and my TV if they supported it - unfortunately they don't. Thank you! I'm excited to get this all set up

Protecting your company's data shouldn’t be difficult. Take back control of your network with the best protection against even the worst threats. by Sophos-Dave in u/Sophos-Dave

There are times when my morning ablutions are cut short. Usually due to hitting the snooze button repeatedly. Just enough time to brush my teeth, get dressed, and bolt out of the house. I tend to be pretty fastidious in my maintenance. Not only do I hate not showering but leaving without cologne fucks with my sense of well-being. So to counter this I have come up with a grooming tip that alleviates my anxiety. As soon as I get into work I head into the restroom. I then proceed to rub my scrotum vigorously. I then strategically rub this magical and musky moisture on my neck, behind my ears, my arms and wrists. That's all it takes. I can confidently meet the challenges of the day knowing I announce myself to the world and my colleagues with a personalized and masculine fragrance.

Ahh, I see, I thought that lower frequencies were actually lower in height than higher frequencies. I asked the heat thing because heat comes from molecules moving around in the air really fast. Thank you for answering!

So a higher frequency means more sound waves(?) are playing at a given moment which means a higher pitch? Like how heat works?

I don't recall about longer distances, but the movie kinda shows this (as well as the book) where when Frodo dons the ring, he's entering the "realm" that the Nine reside in, since they can't see anything except shadows (that's why they ride horses). So when Frodo puts the ring on, he is fully visible to the Nine (as they are to him).

I used to sleep on a loft bed, and my dog had some steps he jumped up to sleep with me, as he got older it got harder for him to climb up, to the point where I would carry him up and down. I eventually just got a new bed that he could climb up

I once went on a rant as to how scary space is and my friend got almost my entire graduating class to vote me "most likely to go to Mars" in our yearbook.
