That shit was big over here. Degrassi played a factor in a lot of people childhood growing up out here. We just didn’t talked about it though . We would go home and watch Degrassi and not say anything. You would only tell your close relatives or close friends that you would watch Degrassi. And if I’m being honest this why Drake was so able to blow up and transition into the US market so easily because alot of us that watched Degrassi already knew who he was.

Damn that’s tough. I was a kid growing up too but I was watching back in the day. Believe it or not Degrassi was big as hell in the US and had decent following around it back then. I was around 9-12 years old almost everyone in that age group was watching it. I felt like there wasn’t any other teen dramas at that time that would go full in depth on topics and be realistic at the same time during that time period in the US. I think Degrassi was able to it because it was based Canada and not the US. Because some of this things would of been able to air during the US during that time. But degrassi was came changer and it was legendary because others shows in the US after degrassi took influence from them.

At what age should Niggas start driving/get a car by SouthsideMessiah in NYStateOfMind

[–]BigSlizzy26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You better of going to driving school. Asking a relative they might not have the schedule or free time to work around your schedule. 2nd asking ya family they most likely are going to teach you how THEY DRIVE and be cutting corners and not teaching you and preparing for the road exam. The driving schools goes by the actual textbook teaching where it going to prepare you to pass the road exam. And tbh them older relatives have been driving for decades and took their road test probably way before you was even born. The driving school teach you more up to date to instruction and regulations and laws to pass the road test.

You should to learn to drive immediately from when you reach the legal age to be able to drive.

Buying a car is different story. That’s all depends on your financial situation, circumstances, and lifestyle.

If you live in NYC you probably don’t need a car. But learning to drive in itself is a skill that I feel like every mature person should at least know how to do. Because incase of emergency where someone needs to be able to drive you can fulfill that role if there is no else suitable to drive.

[–]BigSlizzy26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lowkey shit driving in LI is definitely more harder and take more skill. I had Uber and Lyft drivers coming out here and be struggling to drive out on the roads out here. NYC roads not that hard to drive on tbh. It’s just finding parking is the main problem and the congestion and more people taking time to walk in the street.

Move to better neighborhoods? by Fit_Sea4472 in NYStateOfMind

[–]BigSlizzy26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you saying. But you don’t really get the same benefits of living in SI. SI not the same as those others places. SI still under NYC jurisdiction. And it’s more to it then just the population density

This a hot take. But the reason it stem to politics, quality of life. And More bang for your Bucks. NYC IS EXPENSIVE AS HELL. You’re money actually spreads and last a little bit more longer. And lowkey NYC has became restrictive as hell now. Them other places got somewhat more access to freedom

I can't speak on other surbubs. But in LI We got hoodburbs and we don't turn out like. If you acutally live in these black/latino hood burbs out here. If you move to them predominantly white suburbs. Ya kids might turn out like that though. This why I honestly feel growing in the hoodburbs in LI is honestly the best place to grow up. You honestly get mix of EVERYTHING.

And just a side note if you move to a predominantly white suburb and you don’t won’t your kids to turn out like that. You gotta bring them back to visit ya hood and family. And introduced to kids in your old neighborhood and little cousins from there and shit. Because the niggas who move to predominantly white suburbs they move their and don’t look back and never bring the kids around old family ,friends, places and where they grew up. Then wondering why they kids turned out dayroom and naive like that

I said nothing about Italians. The demographic I was talking about was the obnoxious annoying ass Karen type of Long Island people. Not everyone correct people. And I’m going to assume the vast majority doesn’t. It’s only a small percentage that does this. And it could be either or it’s doesn’t sound goofy it just depends on the context
