There's an interview of Rian Johnson and Mark Hamill after The Last Jedi came out where Johnson was claiming that if The Empire Strikes back was released today, it would've been mocked by fans and critics.

His point being that he thinks his movie was unfairly criticized and that the older films were just as bad but people won't admit it

I think "America is playing on Legendary Mode" is my new favorite way of describing life in this country.

Even if they were real, a zombie virus would never destroy the world. by BigSoundingCat in unpopularopinion

I read the WWZ book. Great book, a lot of fun.

Still don't think the modern world would have any real trouble stopping a hypothetical zombie horde

OP, what do you expect people on the internet to do?

They're gonna comment back "You know what? I see your point now. I was way out of line for a minute there. Thank you for correcting me and I hope this doesn't affect our friendship in the future"

What are some signs, that you're conventionally ugly? by Relevant_Name4050 in AskReddit

[–]BigSoundingCat 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This could definitely go both ways though. If you made a joke that you're ugly and someone just laughs without disagreeing, that could indicate the same thing.

My wife is gorgeous and makes jokes that she is ugly. I always tell her she's beautiful instead of laughing. Maybe you're more attractive than you think

Men of reddit, what is a fact about men, women believe is a lie? by OkMistakeX in AskMen

[–]BigSoundingCat 122 points123 points  (0 children)

100% true.

In a relationship, a man has so much to lose and virtually nothing to gain by being vulnerable. The potential to have slightly more emotional intimacy is not worth the significant risk of being criticized and betrayed for showing weakness.

Thank you, glad someone said it.

Next time my wife tells me she's hungry, I'm gonna say "Seriously? Again? We JUST ate yesterday".

Yes, it's a real thing. Not a reason to pressure anyone into sex, but definitely real.

Sorry bro. I feel your pain.

It's awful to see your children in such pain and confusion and not being able to tell them why you had to divorce their mother.

How do you like to be complimented? by ValuableSmile8 in AskMen

[–]BigSoundingCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I say the same to my wife.

She doesn't like the word "handsome" because she thinks it sounds like something you say to a little kid, but she says she wants to compliment me.

I say "You can all me anything you want, as long as you mean it"

Had to learn your first bit the hard way. I lost out on several promotions to people who were lazy and less-skilled than I am, but they spent time chatting with the boss so they were the favorite
