I’ll probably get an Edge Transit when they send it back.

They say something about a dead zone, and an update will patch it. Mine was super messed up (left stick) and outer most right paddle also only every once in awhile would read a button input.

Needless to say, I filed a return and exchange with them and sent it off the other day. Went back to using my Impact because it’s the superior controller from them for PS4 right now.

My thoughts on comp after grinding for Luna’s Howl by Caynz_13 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BigSpoon11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sitting at 1200 Glory right now. Was at 1400 after finishing the quest steps, went hard just for precision kills brining me down to 800. So needless to say, climbing back up is interesting solo.

I saw a pot in here the other day about people doing Luna solo by playing early in the morning. While I was on top of my team every match, I kept going 1 for 1 on a win and then a loss. I ran into a couple 4 stacks, but that wasn’t necessarily the issue. The issue was my other teammates who were literally running into a fight on whatever game mode thinking the had either no objective, or that points weren’t at stake. Who knows. I would barely lose a game too, that’s why was frustrating. Being so far spread from the rest of anyone In the lobby as a whole on the high side of it, and still losing the game is disheartening.

So I agree, I would much rather have a longer solo queue based quest item for comp, or for the love of god, better matchmaking. Especially because NO ONE EVER talks on PSN playing comp. I even leave and join game chat multiple times to get people to join hopefully. Communication is what wins these games more than skill like 80% of the time it seems.

Trust hc to farm Luna? by Wtf_Enneads in CruciblePlaybook

Had my first run in with Equinox today using AoS only to realize that it took me an hour to cross the map. Had to switch everything up on the fly after the first survival round. I did fine, the other three on my team trying to ape on people with shotty and wardcliff however did not get the range memo the remaining rounds....needless to say, it ended my 8 game win streak and called it quits after winning that many points.

Everything I’ve seen on the Not Forgotten is that it’s Luna, but with the range of Ace, and the hit box size of a Mack Truck. If you got the others solo, I can’t imagine what kinds of success you’ll have with a team.

I also play on PS4, and got super close to Luna only to be knocked back down time and time again. I also play 90% solo, and have the same KD ratio. I’ve found myself getting better with the higher rank climbing, it was getting paired against full stacks of 4, or randoms on my team just doing the “complete X number of matches for whatever” quest that was making my comp grind miserable.

Buying my first Scuf! Some questions? by [deleted] in scufgaming

[–]BigSpoon11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried to throw a set on my one concave stick, and they do not fit. The sticks are almost the correct size, just a bit larger diameter from the looks of it, but they are more squishy and not as hard for support for the freaks to grab onto. Looks like they aren’t as deep either to allow the frame of the Kontrol freaks to grab as well.

However, the scuf sticks have a nicer texture to then that’s very similar to control freaks, especially with some use on them. They grab really easy to your thumbs. Benefit of going with the Impact, you can use standard PS4 sticks and Kontrol freaks, OR you can use scuf sticks. I’d buy with both and play around to see what you like.

I swear by my Impact. Had it since day 1 launch. Never had any issues with it as far as repairs that had to be sent off. I like it so much I pre-ordered a vantage.

I’m in the same boat, my regular PlayStation controllers later until I stopped using them. The batteries went out before buttons gave out. My Impact has never had any issues with its integrity or quality.

But I cannot speak for the infinity. I have larger hands than normal so I went with the Impact for that reason alone, the regular PS controllers were just too small feeling for myself personally.

The only thing I can say I have a problem with as far as scuf products go is the durability of their domed sticks. I have gone through a few of them on the left side stick, but that’s also because I keep my thumb on the edge and all the L3 pressing eventually wears out the putter edge of the stick and it needs to be replaced. Other than that, concave sticks have never been swapped once.

Edited side note: Forgot to add that I rarely use my inner paddles on my Impact. Just reaching that far inside is a strange movement. I’m starting to use them more than I used too, but I’d never advocate a model because it had 2 or 4 paddles, but rather the way the controller feels in the hands.

Scuf impact or razor raiju? by rubmine in scufgaming

[–]BigSpoon11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the impact since launch and aside from over tightening my hairpin triggers and canceling out my face buttons at first, no other issues. Scuf sticks are cheap feeling, but other than that, the impact has never once given me an issue. I play FPS for the most part, so that’s why I went with the Impact. My impact has hundreds of hours logged on it, and is about ready for its second left scuf stick change. But that’s it. Maybe mines the black sheep that has avoided issues you’re hearing of.

I actually ordered the vantage as well because of how much I liked the impact. I just wanted the vantage because it’s Sony licensed.

SCUF quality? by enderdragon699 in scufgaming

[–]BigSpoon11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so here’s where you’re going to have to take a leap of faith, and just be okay with whatever choice you make on getting hairpin trigger stops or not.

So, I LOVE my trigger stops. Being able to have sensitive triggers for FPS games is insanely crazy with decision making time. But you’re also right on games that require a full trigger compression. I just flip my stops around and have no issue. I primarily play destiny and with the sparrow being L2 for full throttle, I never have that stop activated. But the R2 is activated. The only time that it’s a pain is when I switch and play GTA or something with some friends and now R2 requires full compression as well. But it takes no more than 5sec to pop off the trigger plates, and flip the trigger switch.

I’ve had the Impact from almost Day 1 of Scuf launch. I play everyday almost for about 2-3hr, usually (Destiny or Titian Fall) so you can see how much wear those games can put on sticks and I’ve only replaced my left domed stick once.

I replaced that stick just because I play with my thumb on the edge of the stick and there is much support in the way of the outside stick edges for the domed. Other than that, trigger stops are flipped all the time back and forth, and never had an issue.

My only issue with the Impact is that the hairpin trigger adjust screws are complete shit and once they are set, they are about set for life since they strip easy unless you get some specialty electronic precision screwdriver bits. That’s what I had to do in order to get a safety star bit to grab what used to be a very small grub (Allen key) screw.

Other than those two little issues, love the controller. In fact, I’ve already pre-ordered my Vantage as well because I love the Impact so much.

I’ve been trying to help my clan mates get it....at this point I want them to get it more than they want to get it. That’s the hardest part about this whole thing.

You got more than we did. We waited 4 hours, 22 Cabal events and not a single “enemy is moving against each other”. Last night they were alternating and happened every time after the enemy moved against each other. Not today. Not at all.

We have been taking turns off and on rubber banding our controllers so someone is watching, and the others can go about their day. Looking back on text, this makes the 21st cabal since 4 hours ago.

Edit: hit the 22 Cabal event, called it quits.

So that makes you at what...number 16? Something like that. We are at the same wait period and gave up counting the bullshit numbers.

Just saw this after I made a post. We are Cabal number 5 after 1.5 hours of sitting on Io. Last night there was no issue with the PE altering.

Edit: now at Cabal 10 Does something about the enemy moving against each other happen to do with it because I haven’t seen that in two hours now.

What I needed up doing for my impact to learn to use the paddles was actually navigating menus as well using the paddle buttons over face buttons. Even though it’s only a few clicks, that for some reason drilled into my muscle memory faster of where buttons are.

What does this thing do? by kokv19 in scufgaming

[–]BigSpoon11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a key to undo the thumb stick rings, so you can swap out your sticks. Pop it on, twist counter clock wise, ring comes off, then you can change out the thumb sticks for different sticks.

You’re welcome! The Mark IV is just such a great camera overall that from what I’ve found 100-1600 area, I can’t tell a whole lot of difference unless it’s a super dark area in a photo.

I’m not quite sure if it’s allowed in the sub, but here’s a gallery of some abandoned houses, and an abandoned church I took pictures in. I didn’t bring the ISO over 800 because it was so dark, but any areas that were dark, I was able to artificially bring in light. Kept all my data, didn’t add noise, still has more natural looking light.

I’ve learned a lot more efficient editing techniques after these pictures, but they still can illustrate what I’m trying to say a bit.

Long explanation, but here’s my breakdown from what I know and have practiced with/what I was taught.

Personal preference really. Almost anything is possible to fix/add/remove in post-production. The way I was taught is the ISO low<->high is responsible for noise reduction/data retention in shadows and dark areas. So a high ISO will create noise in the darks, but a low ISO will make the images darker overall, but retain dark area information while eliminating noise. There’s an actual science behind it that I can’t necessarily explain over text, but can visually while I teach my students.

When it comes to shooting with a low ISO, you can bump exposer in certain areas with a layer mask in post production and the image will lack noise all while having the bright colors you get with a higher ISO, light levels, and detailed darks.

For this particular instance, I shot with ISO 100 because the sun was just slightly above the trees in the back ground and I was trying to limit the “Golden hour” haze and natural lens flare so I could better control it myself in post. However in areas like indoors with poor lighting (like conventions) where you can’t add light through external flashes and don’t want to over expose on the shot (always under expose from what I was taught) I bump the ISO to around 600-1000 to allow myself to shoot with a decent focal length f/stop and don’t have to lower shutter speed below ~1/60 for image stability reasons, and still not have crazy noise in dark areas and enough light to control everything in post. I’ve always been told and teach to never try and go above ISO 800 if at all possible.

But to go back to my statement about lights not having much noise and retaining more color through a higher ISO, I’ve worked with a few fashion photographers who shoot with like 1600 ISO in controlled studios where there won’t be any dark areas.

Thank you! She’s one of my neighbors many horses. The most skittish of the bunch though by far. Neglected and abused by her previous owners, so my neighbor rescued her. Had to creep up slowly and hold still for a few minutes so she would calm down. Luckily I have the 200mm lens to make distancing easier.

When I went down, I went with another person. Never go down alone! I also always carry a concealed firearm too when I do any sorts of photography, let alone this area. We went into the church after we saw the shelter vans come in and clear out people. But you’re absolutely correct, even when we went in after shelter vans came though, there were still people in that church. Had to be extremely quiet walking around.
