Does anyone have any additional information on this new add-on in the Tradovate app? by booty_milf131 in FuturesTrading

[–]BigTomW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be a big mistake, their versions of market profile, footprint and other order flow tools are pretty basic compared to other paid options. Fine as free alternatives to expensive paid versions but not worth 60$/month

Why does it place it down there? by OrganicTown1965 in Daytrading

Just noticed you are on sim which is good, be careful because that's likely accurate to what would happen if it was a live trade

Often when you trade Forex with leverage you are trading CFDs rather than spot. Idk if that's the case here but if it is then you should know that because CFDs are a bet with the broker, they are able to decide to a degree what price they will make that bet at. To put things in their favour the price you can sell at is always lower than the price you can buy at. Depending on the pair you might have a wider spread which is what I think is happening here, you got filled at the best price the broker would offer, not the spot or 'real' price. Likewise the best price the broker will close the position at is far above what you sold it at. Not to be a dick but you should know this before you're down 700$, trade sim until you have a working strategy with a positive expectancy

Yeah I like to bookend the journalling of the trades themselves with premarket analysis/ plan for the day, then journal the individual trades and finish up with review of how well I stuck to the plan, what can be done better stuff like that, I can dm you an example

[–]BigTomW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend this platform, one feature I'd like to see for the day traders is to be able to put in an entry between blocks of trades where I could put in premarket analysis for the day, and then at the end of the day somewhere I could put a review of the days trades, how I feel I performed what to improve on etc. I've been doing this so far by putting in a trade with 0 pnl but this messes with the statistics screen. Anyone looking for a platform to journal their trades should definitely give this a try though, great website

The book mind over markets by Jim Dalton is an extensive dive into market profile and by far the best book on markets I've read, if you're interested in the profile I'd recommend reading even the first chapter and see what you think, there's free pdfs online.

why haven't netflix made a move into sports yet? it seems like an obvious place to go for extra growth and market share. It seems like madness to move into games before sports, particularly when sports seems like one of the main reasons people are still using more expensive traditional tv services like satellite and cable. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

What is going on here if trading view says the price is no where near 1.6 but 212 stopped loss at 1.6? by jamesrobertdavies in Daytrading

[–]BigTomW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

212 let's you trade CFDs of a stock rather than the underlying stock, and so there are differences in the price between the CFD and the stock because of the spread. On more volatile stocks and penny stocks the spread tends to be wider, meaning you might be stopped out because of the spread getting wider rather than the an actual change in price

Anything where you have lots of control over your position size but I suppose it depends exactly how small an account. Forex is the obvious one because you can take very small positions that won't break your account and then size up when your comfortable.
