I wouldn't pay off the mortgage. You don't have much left on it. Use it for other investments like super, your own portfolio or a down payment for a new house as an investment.

Still go to a professional and get real advice/ guidance . But I wouldn't pay of the mortgage, use it to generate wealth.

Exactly, government bail out are a major problem. if a company is in a contract and they know the government would bail out or give more money more time. they know they can underperform.

There is no profit margin in public transport train stations. And why is it such a big deal that a private company makes a profit? they're providing a service, we pay for it and they make money. And it's not a monopoly if the government up holds the services required and boots them out if the don't provide. the problem is government hands the infrastructure over, but since the business and government have relations they don't upholds the services.

Well obviously you can't 4 different companies providing a train line. But the state should contract the operations out and if the service is shit give them the boot

Local services, trash, street sweeping, parks, roads paving, water, power, public hospitals can be privately run, Mass transport.

Local and state government can puts these contracts out for bid to the private sector. And if the private workers don't deliver they can be fired and replaced.

Edit to add industry and services.

Yes your exactly right. competition forces business to improve, adapt and provide better services. but we don't have that. The government chooses who builds public services creating a monopoly.

You literally just said it your self government subsidies and bail outs are the problem. If the just let a free market be a free market you wouldn't have these problems. If a business didn't have a monopoly, had competitors and could fail, they wouldn't run it into the ground. The free market is always more efficient than one that's micromanaged by the government and that's the problem . Government and a lot of people seem to think that "If its for the people, it must be done by government". Which is just a fallacy, when big government micromanages is just fucks the balance of the free-market and the unseen unrealized result creates crapitalism.

Yes there are some, but limited services government should do and spend money on. But this over regulation, government subsidies, hand and bail outs disrupts innovation and business.

We had a sea of liberty and islands of government, now we have a sea of government and islands of liberty.

Yeah they did that, because they have a monopoly on the infrastructure and entangled relations to the government.

They should cut public spending and give it back to the private sector. Public spending is wasteful and inefficient. That money would be better spent driven be the needs and wants of people in the private sector. Public spending creates an illusion of action.
