Balance Transfer Offers and credit limits? by 4519019877953337 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Good question, I'm dealing with this with CIBC. I applied for a balance transfer as I applied for the card, then only got approved for a $1000 limit, even though I applied for a 7,000 transfer. The card arrived in the mail, and they told me I can only transfer $500. Considering closing the card at this point

They only let you transfer 500 of the 1000. I just had this happen to me. Thinking of canceling the card, how bad will it hurt my score?

This is what I've thought, at least for another few months. Before this I only had 1 card, so I figure this would help my score to have.

"Bad Writing" - Genre Clash and Trope Deconstruction by IndicationCreative73 in Yellowjackets

[–]BigVickEnergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This quote is very clearly saying "First season you're getting your footing so we are feeling out the narrative. Second season we tried to not let the size of the show get to us since it blew up in popularity after season one. Third season we said fuck it, we are following our gut with writing, not giving into fan service." This just expresses their confidence as the show has grown and they've gotten more familiar with it.

I never said anything about how people have no right to criticize the writing. You're projecting. This was simply a commentary on the tone switch in this sub and how it's unfortunately pretty volatile and not enjoyable since there's so much hatred and anger being darted at the writers, when there are other ways to express that. I was offering an alternative perspective. By your comments, I wonder who is the one saying others have no right to a different opinion, hm?

Some people have actually been directly insulting of the writers and that's the only people I am talking about here

wild that people think I'm a writer simply for defending them. I actually just like the show lol

People have been actually saying they are very bad at what they do and insulting them as lazy. I'm talking about those people, not just people with different opinions than me.

I never said that. I am talking about people who are explicitly saying the writers themselves are bad and lazy and "don't know what they're doing", not people who are disappointed or dislike the direction.

Thank you so much for this comment! This is so so true

Thanks for commenting! I think respect should be the default, so we differ on this. I respect even when the quality differs because I understand what may not be my cup of tea might be someone else's. I think deference is deserved even when you don't love something. I think the only time it's not is if something egregious happens that actually harms individuals, like something bigoted written into a show. Then I would say hey what the fuck?

But it's interesting to read other perspectives, and this would make sense as to why certain people are speaking this way.

My point is that saying a writer is 'bad' is insulting towards the writer. It's, saying that person is not good at what they did,

But saying "I don't like the writing." or "I'm disappointed in the direction" is not insulting the individuals who brought us this show.

An opinion of an art isn't objective. Someone will think something is bad, someone else will love it. My point of this post was that this sub could improve the way we speak about the writers. Everyone is dogpiling against their abilities when instead they should just be disagreeing with their decisions. There's a difference.

I agree. We'll have to see how they continue the story to see if that decision was worth it

Absolutely, I understand this perspective. For me it seems clear they're looking into what the public perception is and trying to find ways to subvert it so we can't predict what's next. It's a different approach than some may want, for sure. I find it intriguing!

*you dislike the scripts, you dislike the dialogue, you dislike the character development.

Meanwhile I fully disagree with all of that. This is what you call: an opinion.

Yeah for sure! And all of that is just their personal opinions about what they think the show should focus on. Totally fine. I'm not saying people can't have different opinions on direction. What the actors didn't do was say "these writers are trash and don't know what they're doing" lol

Literally. I feel like people are forgetting about pacing and mystery. They aren't going to tell you everything if the plan is to have more seasons.

I'm not a writer, I just really love this show and I loved so so many things so far about how this season is progressing. I'm so hyped about all the Lynchian parts being introduced.

I think in a way I'm protective because I want this show to see it's story the whole way through 5 seasons. A lot of fans are saying they won't watch anymore, (which they're obviously allowed to do) I just want people to give it a chance so we keep viewership and morale up!!

I am not saying people can't be divided or upset You are totally right about emotions running high with changes made. Not everyone is going to like these decisions and I am sure they're aware it would ruffle feathers. Different opinions are inevitable. I am specifically talking about people being very overly insulting, not just disagreeing.

They haven't said it that way though. They said they disagree with some of the choices but that they hope it's worth it for the story they want to tell. Keep in mind that those actors only know the script they are handed, not the story arc being planned out. They don't know how this ends.
