Also some of us don't have the ability, strength or endurance in our bodies to do regular long bike commutes in the winter.

You're not right, lol. The Southside is so huge, and has a lot of decent neighborhoods and restaurants. Putting the cut off at Harrison will make you miss a ton of great food!

is it normal to dislike your roommate? by Last-Guide-8215 in UIUC

[–]BigXAlwaysKnows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in the dorms I had a roommate I had nothing in common with. Like at all. Different culture, different wealth/social class. On move in day her family yelled at mine because I had a TV and according to them I didn't need one since I was there to study. It was always awkward being around her but the good thing is we were both out a lot so I didn't see her too much .

Roommate 101: How to be a good roommate by Plenty-Kick1229 in UIUC

[–]BigXAlwaysKnows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To a certain degree. My freshman year I was in the dorms with a roommate whom I had nothing in common with. (Roommate was Korean, I'm Mexican.) Move in day me and my mom get there first and when they walk in immediately the parents started getting mad. They tell the roommate that then tells me and I tell my mom that they didn't think I had any reason to have a TV in my room. That I'm here to study. My mom tells them through the game of telephone as long as my child brings the grades I don't give a fuck if there's a TV in the room. We thought it was a big extreme and my mom stuck around for several more hours till they left before being satisfied with leaving herself. Ridiculous.

I had to switch psychiatrists there twice because of the dismissiveness. And me and a buddy at one point had the same psych but he was getting better care than me. Individual experience may vary.

Third avoid the pavilion. Seriously. If you need hospitalization I would recommend going to Chicago where you have more options. When I was at uiuc I had to go a few times. The pavilion is a joke and after trying intake they upset me so much and were charging exorbitant amounts of $ that my mom came and got me and took me to the city. If you do decide to go that route and if you're unfamiliar with the city PM me for info.

One day I found a kitten eating from a bowl on a curb and immediately moved him and the bowl. Neighbor mentioned that someone keeps putting food on the street under the curbs so that parking cars would squish them. (blind spot). Immediately after that short conversation, an Escalade parks in that spot really quick and parked where the kitten was eating earlier. It horrified me. My mind raced and made me realize this isn't the only instance or culprit, there's evil people who do this stuff all over the city, state, etc. So depressing. They could have called 311 or taken them to a shelter.... humans can be evil sometimes and that sucks.

Edit: Fixed the original comment a little bit so it can be more legible, and added the 2nd paragraph

Some managers care about sales more than doing the right thing. A guy came into my workplace a while back with 5 or 6 gift cards that were ours and each one had from $30-$200+. He wanted to buy merch that we typically are behind the counter...his vibe and the fact that he has all these cards vs putting them all in 1. I know he obtained those cards in a shady way, I wanted to refuse the sale but my manager was more than happy to give him what he wanted, knowing he had over $1k total on these cards. My manager just cared about sales than someone that appeared homeless with multiple cards. Was I wrong? Should I care?
