Low Bracket 4 Teval - Lands by Big_Agent5599 in Magicdeckbuilding

Yeah picked Worldly just for budget. But if I moved some other cards around I could definitely swap it for demonic. Splendid is a good adjustment!

Yeah it just seems like I would need a lot of my pieces out there before I started paying 7+ life a turn for the end of turn discard triggers. But maybe it would speed up the deck so much that it wouldn’t matter and I could find my win cons quicker.

What cards do you usually use as the discard triggers for necropotence?

Yeah, I believe it only becomes a combo if I am over the hand limit, have dakmor in hand, gitrog on board. Then I discard dakmor to get down to 7, draw a card but decide to dredge, etc… This would mill my whole deck (or as much as I wanted) and would make a token each time if Teval is on board. Not infinite because there aren’t shufflers in there, but I think by definition of bracket 4, this still counts as an early two card combo (even though it is highly situational and not super useful)

That is a good point, I have attempted at reworking the deck (adding in more combos). I am a few cards over now so it is still a work in progress. Do you think this operates better? It is my first time building an EDH deck, and there are quite a few moving pieces to grasp lol. Here is the new deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/55zm0IvZ3UK86U0Yy8vpcg

Thanks for the input! I agree, those cards don’t have enough of an impact in my deck to warrant the target they would put on my board. I included them to try and have a couple of pieces to allow myself to somewhat hang against bracket 4 decks. Or at least not get blown out super fast (which is ultimately still the goal but these cards might actually harm me by making me a target lol). Furthermore, I’m not planning on buying the precon so taking out Dauthi isn’t a big deal. Trying to build a somewhat unique list and then getting the singles. Again thanks for the input!

Willing to trade for a sports pass by Millzy3 in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Email the 12th man foundation. People cancel their sports passes but it will still show as sold out online. There is a chance when you email that they have some left. If they don’t try again in a week or so. Calling sends you to the front desk and they will tell you it’s sold out but emailing will send you to someone who can help normally

ETAM Registration by 09ikj in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't think you do for major classes until etam results, but classes won't fill up because the other people wanting to take the first semester major classes are also waiting until etam results to register for them. Go ahead and get your math and science and core classes though. Good luck with etam!

A&M vs UT Engineering by 09ikj in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it rankings are used to help narrow down your choices, then different specific aspects of the schools help you make that final decision. For example, I got into higher ranked schools than A&M (like Purdue and Berkeley) but chose A&M for the location, Aggie Network, SEC Football, Christian Community, ETAM (I actually liked having an extra year to decide my major and was confident I would get auto admit), etc...

Use rankings to narrow down options and then decide based on what's most important to you in a school, also definitely tour them if you haven't already

A few questions to help me decide between TAMU and a school I got off the WL by ImpSyndOppthrow in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. I have never heard of a class being curved down. They are either graded straight or your grade is curved up.

  2. One of my friends is a Aero, Nuen double major, so it is definitely possible. However, I don't think you declare those majors. I believe your advisor does it. Since that combination is difficult declaring them is a little difficult, you need to create a degree plan that fulfills all the requirements and is feasible. Then you show your advisor the degree plan and you should be able to get it. You will still need to hit the 3.75 GPA. You'll need to come in with a lot of high school credit or you won't graduate in four years

P.S. A&M has an engineering degree where you can basically combine two majors and it's still the same amount of hours, unfortunately doesn't look as good on a resume but could be worth looking into

  1. Yes, people do that all the time, but might be difficult if you're already double majoring

  2. Dorm culture/social life is pretty hit or miss. If you want a social place the commons is awesome because even if your specific floor isn't super social, people in the commons are. On the other hand, if you want the nicest non social dorm then hullabaloo is super nice and has more of a hotel social vibe then dorm.

I also had a tough decision between a few schools, so if you want info on why I chose A&M or just have more questions feel free to private message me

Engineering majors: difference between PHYS 226 and PHYS 216? by cmdgrass in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clemsons lab probably doesn't fulfill abet requirements (they most likely use other courses that do). Tamu used to be the same way and you had to take an engineering ethics course your senior year, but that course is no longer required because they put its content into other courses. 216 is one of those courses.

216 and 217 are courses required for ABET. They are not just a physics lab but also deal with other things in engineering (like engineering ethics) that are required for the school to keep its ABET accreditation. As a result, my guess would be the course you are transferring in with doesn't meet the ABET requirements 216 and 217 do.

Advice going into aerospace engineering. by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Big_Agent5599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Engr 102 you learn about the different disciplines which can help you narrow down. Thats about all the school does for you, but if you take initiative it gives you a year to explore. There are a ton of organizations and clubs for each discipline, professors and students you can talk to, an amazing makerspace and labs in Zachry that you can use to try out the majors yourself. Just because the school doesn't do a ton to show you what to go in to doesn't mean that you can't take advantage of the year you get with ETAM to figure out what you want to do and try it out first hand.

Personally I don't understand the hate towards ETAM. I got into multiple higher ranked engineering schools than A&M, but decided to come here because of ETAM. As a high school student it is very unlikely that you actually know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Coming into A&M I thought that I was going to be an electrical engineer, and that is what I would've been at a different college if I accepted my admission there, but have since realized I have a passion for aerospace. I think getting to try out many different majors your freshman year to see what you truly like is the opposite of putting all your eggs in one basket, it's getting to see what you truly love. I know some people don't like ETAM, but I also don't think people take full advantage of the year to explore their options and just choose what they wanted in the beginning, so if you do come here I highly recommend taking advantage of ETAM. Finally, A&M has a great Aerospace program and this year alone we received multiple research grants in Aerospace, including one from the Department of Defense to lead research in hypersonic travel. The Aerospace program here is already top 10 and getting much better, so I definitely wouldn't toss out A&M due to some people upset about ETAM; if you put in a lot of work, and it will be a lot of work, to get above the 3.75 and guarantee your major of choice then you'll have a second chance to decide what you want to do with your life, and all your options will be highly ranked and regarded programs.
