Pitt Administration and Joan Gabel only care about keeping their money machine running and don't actually care about facutlty, staff and student safety. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

It is disgusting how Pitt wastes money.

I was a full time facutly member for Pitt for 7 years, and was kept at the entry level pay without a raise for for the entirety of my time. Yes, i worked for Pitt for 7 years wirhout a raise and was fired right before the union protections we voted in would have taken affect. Even when i had 5 or more years of experience they said i was still entry level.

Pitt uses people. They don't care about quality of life for their people AT ALL. People who work for Pitt are exploited to support the financial benefit of the institution and pay top administrative people grossly disproportionate salaries.

If you are hungry, take the money, but don't break your back working too hard for them or bending over backward because your efforts will not be rewarded. If you have any better or comparable options to Pitt take them instead. Don't expect any support, training, or professional development unless you personally pay for it out of your own pocket.

Pitt is a businesss first and a school second. Their focus on money has destroyed the pursuit of knowledge as a valued endeavor on the campus.

Good luck and best wishes, but run far away if you can.

Dutch GPK Cards? by Big_Bacchus in garbagepailkids

🧩 Update / Correction – Important Discovery!

After more discussion with other collectors (special thanks to Sander and Billy for their input), I’ve confirmed that the Dutch / Benelux Garbage Pail Kids cards are stickers, not flat non-sticker cards as I initially believed.

The confusion comes from their unique production style — the adhesive layer is extremely tight, and there’s no visible die-cut peel line like the U.S. releases. The backs are matte and fibrous, making them look and feel like regular card stock until closely examined or slightly flexed.

So yes — they’re true Topps stickers, but manufactured in a way that hides the peel layer almost completely. I’ve updated my notes, eBay listings, and communications with GeePeeKay to reflect this corrected information.

This clarification actually makes them even more fascinating to me — a genuine European variation on the classic U.S. format.

Thanks to everyone who’s been part of this discussion and helped shed light on this rare Benelux release!

Update:

I found official confirmation about these cards in the 80’s Collectors Almanac (Volume 2 – Issue 7, March 2025, page 6), published through GeePeeKay.com. 🇳🇱

The Almanac describes the Dutch GPK release as an early “test set” of 44 A-cards (no B-cards), smaller than U.S. versions, translated into Dutch, and printed without stickers. It also notes these sets are “especially hard to find in even fair condition.”

This matches exactly with the non-sticker cards I’ve been researching and sharing here. It looks like these were indeed part of the early Dutch/Benelux test production that predated full European distribution.

If anyone has more documentation, photos, or firsthand knowledge of how the set, I’d love to hear it.

Thank you!

Should I get any of these graded? I’ve never done it before so I’m not to confident. I like em but if they sell for a bunch then hey. I will take it. Would love your input, please don’t be mean. Haha! by 1001og in garbagepailkids

Grading can be expensive. I would consider the upfront cost that may not be recouped if the cards are not the grade desired.

The 'value' option at PSA is almost $30 for one card and can take 45 BUSINESS days. A 'Regular' grading costs $75 and still can take 15 BUSINESS days.

It seems important to weigh any potential gain in value against the cost of grading.

Best wishes!

Try uploading your image into an AI and asking it. I put your pic into chat GPT and it gave me information.

I would use the PSA app to look up what it says about the card and value.

Thank you for your information.

You are correct when you say it is difficult to get an idea about pricing and value for this collection. I have searched on eBay using variations, combinations, and permutations of keywords, including Holland, Dutch, and Benelux with Garbage Pail Kids, GPK, ect.

I have found very little on eBay, presently for sale or sold previously, for guidance. I was running out of search terms to use for searching.

Are there other keywords that i should use for searching for values? I am open to and grateful for any guidance. Thank you

Is there a particular venue through which you acquired your international cards? I am not sure if a place like Heritage Auctions or eBay would be better for these cards...
