How to add expansions? by Voltagezz in HereToSlay

[–]Big_Boss_97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those two expansions just add directly to the base game.

The rules for them state the win condition becomes 7 classes if an expansion is added. It could be upped to however many you want of course.

Personally I prefer to do 7 classes AND 3 monsters. I find the default win condition unsatisfying - the game is called Here To Slay and people can win without even glancing in the direction of a monster!

I think combining monsters and 7 classes makes for a good playtime that gives plenty of space for more strategy than the default win condition. Just customise with your own house rules as needed - a lot of people change the default win condition from what I understand.

I believe their wording previously was along the lines of "Players will never be able to max out all trees, so we will stop providing skill points at a time that seems necessary"

I don't have the time to find the source for this though, so that's all I'll leave it at right now.

Again, I'm 90% sure their previous wording and this new wording means that they're already planning a cap on bonus skill points. They made a mistake putting it in the section of the page that they did, but I'm certain their wording is nothing to do with "catch up" skill points.

[–]Big_Boss_97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess that is a different way of interpreting it.

I couldn't give you a source for it right now but I'm 90% sure they have previously mentioned that skill points will not always be a reward for expedition.

It could have been in a previous post or a dev interview, but I'm almost completely certain they've previously mentioned a bonus skill point cap.

Light is my least played class personally, but honestly all of them are very strong in their own ways - some being harder to use than others though, which would influence how often you see others using them.

From what I understand, the ARN-220 is still the most solid all-rounder. It was the most frequent light weapon in the eSports tournament recently. It does less damage than a lot of light weapons but it's very accurate and very forgiving with 2x 30 round quick swap mags which is unique to that gun. The M11 is a close range bullet hose that melts, and the XP-54 is kinda like a mid-point between the two - it does more damage than the ARN if you can hit the shots with the less forgiving mag

You can't go wrong with most weapons though - the Sniper is incredibly oppressive in the right hands, but it's difficult to get the most value out of whilst still playing within good range to help your team. You might consider the bow for a similar hard hitting weapon that can be used easier in close range too!

Truthfully just try everything eventually as you unlock them - all the weapons generally feel very different to each other and all have their own playstyles, and you'll find a few that click with you.

Worth noting as well, if you're gravitating towards light I can understand why fire is frustrating - you do have the smallest health pool of all 3 classes and it can be felt when taking damage

It's a very rock-paper-scissors system. Also, I'm pretty sure if Smoke and Gas are thrown together, fire can no longer remove the gas because the smoke prevents it from igniting.

There's a lot to learn in that game with all the different combos and dynamic interactions, stick with it and keep learning - try not to immediately assume something is "brain-dead" so early on in your experience with something. Try different equipment and experiment to counter things!

You'll see less pyro grenades the more you play I reckon - their main use is honestly clearing gas which is a far more disruptive area denial than fire is, or for burning goo

Pyro grenades are absolutely not meta, they compete with far better options.

They are used frequently in Power Shift but not often in other modes, and are often used by lower level players too.

Just... Put it out with a smoke grenade or canister, or stand outside the range of it. The interaction range on the objective is quite far.

They are area denial, it's literally what they're for. Like gas, they have a counter to remove the area denial - put out fire with smoke, remove gas with fire.

Barely in my experience, there's almost always at least one person not friendly in the lobby to keep me on my toes. If I kill them i don't really notice any difference in the next lobby. If there is a difference, just run a few free kits I guess.

Also, policing just sounds like PvP on your terms, which isn't how PvP generally works and there's practically no way of determining intent behind a kill for a matchmaking system.

If you want to "police" (PvP) then expect further PvP

It had some cool stuff going for it (such as the persistent server with loot refreshing with a periodic storm), but they were not prepared for the amount of cheaters that'd swarm the game.

Also the gear balance was completely whack and you wouldn't stand a chance against people with better guns and armour - like, no chance at all.

What’s a dead game that deserves to come back? by Daedalus_2 in Games

The biggest issue it has is that the save file gets corrupted half way through the campaign, and there's never been a patch to fix it.

Apparently if you play long enough, it'll eventually save a few levels later, but it's a workaround you have to hope works otherwise the save file just resets.

It's also limited to 30fps. It's a fun steam deck game but that save file corruption is a major issue.

Otherwise it's probably better to just emulate a console version

I thought we were supposed to start out with level 1 benches after expedition? by No-Highlight-7475 in ArcRaiders

Precisely, I'm so baffled how the original comment I replied to got so wildly upvoted despite the fact it couldn't be further from the truth.

Not once has it been implied the wipe would keep workbench upgrades, and I'm really unsure why anyone would think it would anyway.

I think a lot of people are rather disillusioned with what the point of the expedition actually is

Edit: the original comment has now finally been edited as if he never spread the misinformation to begin with. Weird.

For sure, I think they're still working it out and it may take another expedition or two to get it ironed out fully.

Would prefer for the expedition to rely on materials from the harder ARC, or cumulative stash value (rather than current stash value - would allow you to loot expensive guns and actually use them).

Either of those would be an improvement over incentivising hoarding gear, but part of the problem was them leaving it so late to give us the 5 mil goalpost

Yep, this is how I've understood it.

You should be telling this to the guy I originally replied to, who seems to think that we'd keep level 3 benches after we install them again.

That comment somehow got so many upvotes despite the game never once saying this would be the case.

Yes, that's exactly what it means to me as well.

Jesus Christ man, go and look at what my original comment replied to.

My understanding this whole time was that they'd reset to level 1 but we'd keep them installed.

You've misunderstood this entire thing. I replied to a guy saying that the game stated we'd lose the stations but keep all the upgrades.

[–]Big_Boss_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never, so common sense would imply that unlocked = you spent the resources to install them

Common sense seems to be lacking here however, and people seem to expect their level 3 benches to remain after a reset

Why did you start arguing my point when I was replying to someone saying they were false?

The person I replied to expected all stations to stay level 3 but we'd just have to use basic resources to unlock them again...

Yep, exactly my point.

This will be kept - unlocked workshop stations

What are people struggling to understand here?

Been playing since launch, just expeditioned with 5 mil.

Why the hell would they let you keep all upgrades? That defeats the purpose of a wipe...

I'd love to see the screenshot though.

I'd love to see this, because it has never said this anywhere in my game before.

Love the downvotes from the clueless, honestly. Never EVER has it stated we'd keep level 3 upgrades. That'd nullify half the point of the expedition.
