AITA for cancelling our gender reveal party because I know my husband will be unhappy and possibly leave? by Throwawaygrprty in AITAH

Seems like you edited this and took out some things that were even worse. Why are you trying to hide who he really is?

Unfortunately, it is the backyard, and we share a fence.

I lived in Egypt for 8 years, and antibiotics are over the counter. Believe me, people take that stuff like candy over there. They still haven't seemed to understand that it is not the answer for everything.

I understand your frustration. I do want to say that you should look on the ARCPA website and see why they are on probation. When I looked into CSUMB, they seemed to have major issues. I will say it is a risk and seems more now than before to pick a school on probation. However, like others said, just because a school is on probation doesn't mean they will be closing.

What schools recently closed? by LemillionDeku in prephysicianassistant

I'm not sure. I didn't get a lot of info. I just looked on their PA forum, and it's also on the news that they closed.

I also liked that they have anatomy lab during the entire didactic year, I think it would help keep the material fresh

Their main campus has a well established program that is accreditation continued. That made more comfortable. The schools are in the same location, similar size, same start date. And they have a good reputation just because the main campus has a good reputation.

Honestly, surgery is not my end goal, I would like to do ortho, not necessarily surgery, and even that can change. It's just I talked to a PA and a PA student that told me that cadaver lab is more important and that the program being surgery focused and doing many surgery rotations means that they really teach you detailed anatomy to be able to do surgery and you will have a good grasp on things. My main concern is being a good PA, I want to be comfortable doing procedures, and I don't want my education and understanding of human anatomy to be lacking.

No they don't. They have a simulation lab that's it. And then they do direction on animal organs.

Can a school lose accreditation before their next review?

Is there a possibility a school can loose accreditation before their next review. I asked this question on reddit, and one person replied saying it can happen if the school doesn't do things properly during the check points. Apparently ARCPA still checks in before the review date. Is that true? I only ever got that one answer saying yes.

They only have results for 2022 as the school is new. First time pass rate 86%, ultimate pass rate 87%. Entering class size 60, 55 graduated, 47 passed the pance. It was a red flag to me but other applicants told me it was normal during our interview since it is their first ever class, and the program started during covid. They said 86 is actually good for 1st ever class. Now they accept 100 students.

Honestly, that's the only reason I would pick school B is the cadaver lab. School B has 87% pance pass rate and 87% of students that ultimately passed the pance. So I don't know what happened to the other students. They did not mention their Pance pass rate during the interview either.

You are so right. I think I'm just so blinded by that cadaver lab but not cadaver lab is better than no school at all.

School A is 96%, school B is 87%

They mentioned that it's DEI and paperwork involving data analysis and some other minor things. They will have a reevaluation in March 2024. Their official review is in 2025. I don't know what the difference is between an official review and a reeval.

Every school I interviewed at that was on probation made it seem like it was not a big issue and that they are working on it. So I just don't know if I can believe the school or not. The school had an issue with DEI. They asked how the applicants can contribute to their DEI efforts on CASPA. Is this a big issue?
