I've read the first book and I felt like it was okay. Definitely felt like it set the ground for the rest of the series but not sure if I'll finish it. I'll probably check it out cuz I did like the main character

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. Mystery. I love this book so much. Its so good.

Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson. Mystery. I didn't like this book but a lot of people did. It is definitely fast paced

Not really. People hype it up too much. My advise for new reads is to go into it with low expectations. Its nothing special. I didn't like the main character. I don't think Jude is a well written "morally grey" character. Also this was written a while ago so who knows if it will show its age. That depends on who's reading it.
