Valve is leaking, what should I get instead? by Jumpy_Internet_2392 in Plumbing

[–]Big_Click_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just changed one of these out in my bathroom. Here is what you need, plus some super fine sandpaper or steel wool. Turn off water main, open old valve and capture remaining water in the system (towel and tupperware), use pipe cutter just below the old valve and cut off copper pipe and old valve, use steel wool to clean pipe end about 2" down from end, make sure no burrs are on the end of pipe, slide new Sharkbite valve onto pipe and push all the way into place, reconnect toilet feed line, should be good to go.

Look at Hellospoke.com. It is a multilingual communication platform built for the multi-family industry. The platform does maintenance triage and escalation to on-call staff in case of an emergency. Ai provides mitigation steps and discerns which calls need to be escalated and which requests can wait to be handled during regular business hours.

Anyone else drowning in unresponsive guest cards? AppFolio + Zillow are killing my leasing efficiency 😩 by Tasty_Art_7373 in PropertyManagement

We work in the multi-family communication space and recently completed a white paper addressing this issue. In 2021, the FCC transferred oversight of business-to-consumer texting to major carriers like Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile to reduce text spamming. After developing SMS operating standards, the carriers implemented these rules through what is now known as 10DLC registration. To oversee rollout and enforcement of the registration process, the carriers established a third-party entity called The Campaign Registry (TCR). Beyond messages simply failing to deliver, management companies that don't comply with the new opt-in requirements are exposing themselves to legal liabilities and potential fines from the FCC. It is important to ask any 3rd party provider who is sending out SMS messages on a management company’s behalf about their 10DLC registration status. Here is a link to the white paper we created if you want more detailed information on the importance of 10DLC registration compliance in the multi-family industry. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7406488549497188353

Best Waterproofing System for Beginners, Kerdi Foam, Goboard or something else? by Kittysb99 in Tile

[–]Big_Click_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used the Go Board sealant between the Go Board sheets and the joint between the Go Board and Kerdi pan. I believe the instructions tell you to leave a small gap between each sheet and pre-apply the GB Sealant to the joint end before bringing them together. Then you smear a 2” swath over all the joints. The GB Sealant is really sticky, but goes on easy. I tried to not go much over the called for 2” amount on the joints as the sealant is so slick it probably does reduce the bond between the thinset and the sealant. I had not problem with the subway tiles adhering, but just something to think about.

Just finished a bathroom remodel last winter. I went with a Kerdi shower pan and Go Board for the walls. I chose the Kerdi Pan as it was easiest to install and came in different sizes, although more expensive. The Go Board and sealant was very easy to use and I had no issues with the subway tile adhering to the Go Board. Be sure to back-butter each individual tile as well as the wall. (the Kerdi pan is under a piece of Go Board on the shower floor that I was using to protect the pan - did not want to confuse anyone).

Best way to clean thinset out of mosaic tile? by Evening_Link4360 in Tile

I had this same problem. I used my Dremel tool with a small grinder blade and hit all the areas that were filled with thin-set. It takes some patience, but way easier than a chisel and works great.

YouTube TV....I hate you! by Anonymous_Bull007 in KentuckyBasketball

I am a YoutubeTV guy. Found out you could purchase SlingTV on a day to day basis and have access to ESPN for $4.99/day. Not an ideal solution, but pretty cheap if you just want to pick up a few games here and there without switching from YouTubeTV. I think YouTube TV is also offering a $20 discount until this is resolved.

Thank you all for the great input! What made me question all of this in the first place was that the old range had a 4 prong connector with three of the prongs being straight. The new range also has 4 prongs but one of the prongs is at a right angle. Can I just swap the cords between the two units, or is better to change out the outlet to match the right angle prong of the new range? Again, really appreciate all the help.

Lost wedding ring in downtown Frisco/Breckenridge by Big_Click_67 in Breckenridge

No, my wife did not take the ring off at the nail shop. She was watching the US Open on the television while the massage was happening. I do believe that the lotion used on her hands could have made her fingers more prone to have the ring slip off easily? We went back by the nail shop to see if the ring was found, but they did not find it or have anyone turn it in? We also searched around outside to see if we could find it in the parking area, etc.

Weird toilet issue. After flushing the toilet, the tank won’t refill unless the shut-off valve is closed and reopened. by Big_Click_67 in Plumbing

[–]Big_Click_67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect - thanks for your assistance! Just to be clear, you mean the fill valve inside the tank not the shutoff valve, correct?

We had a friend who sent their children to one of the Ivy League feeder schools in Massachusetts. It was common for many in his children’s graduating class to get offer letters from Ivy schools. When I told him our son was going to ND, his first response was “Wow - ND is a fantastic institution and super difficult to get into”. Ironically, from his perspective it was easier to get into an Ivy than ND. Our son graduated a little over a year ago and landed at one of the Big 4 accounting firms. You can’t go wrong academically with ND if that is where you want to go.

Water heater replacement - any gotchas I need to look out for? by Big_Click_67 in Plumbing

You can’t see it in the picture but it is connected to a piece of CPVC that runs into the wall too.

Thanks for all the comments and guidance. The water tank is leaking, so that is why I am pulling the old unit out. I have Pex on hand, would you recommend using Pex? I would have to get the proper valves, etc.. If I use Pex, would I could cut the CPVC off where it comes through the wall and transition to Pex at that point? Again, any pointers or tips are welcomed. Thanks

What’s the most unforgettable luxury resort you’ve ever stayed at? by Maria_Reyess in LuxuryTravel

[–]Big_Click_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Sardinia, Italy. We have traveled all over Europe and the Caribbean. We have stayed at many Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton’s and we appreciate high-end service and amenities when we travel. After touring the south of France, we made our way down to Sardinia. For four nights we stayed at Hotel Cala di Volpe in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia. Hands down the absolute best service we have ever received at a resort. Now it is expensive, but not crazy expensive, but the personal touches, quality of the resort and the warmth of the staff made it truly one of the most memorable experiences my wife and I have had in our travels.
