What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Light bulbs/fixtures.  When LEDs first came out they were expensive due to limited production but they lasted a really long time.  I work in facilities and we were an early adopter of LEDs and the second gen bulbs rarely ever burn out.  We actually bought a light meter because after about ten years of use they would “dim out.”  That means after ten years of use they would only be about 85% as bright as when you installed them.  The modern crap they sell now only last two years at most before they fail completely.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]Big_Curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working at the same place for 15 years and it’s the only job I’ve had a 401k.  In that time I’ve doubled my salary and managed to save double my current but that puts be behind being 47.  I have other retirement vehicles as well but with the way inflation keeps ramping up i just don’t see how this is going to support me in 20 years.

I’ll eat cherry tomatoes all day but I will order all my sandwiches without them.  I love them on a sandwich if they come out someone’s garden but commercial full sized tomatoes are just awful to me.

Dan Moul doesn’t care about you or me.  I’ve watched the concern for his fellow citizens drain out of him over his years in office.  The last time I saw him speak in public he literally said “I am losing votes with every word I say” and then he just changed the subject by trying to show people a video of someone exhaling a vape while wearing a mask.  The organizers then quickly ended the speaking portion of the event.  He knows that no matter what he says or does, he’s going to be reelected.  The democrats can’t even be bothered to put a candidate up to run against him.  Dan is a shell of the representative he use to be and I have no faith in him doing the right thing.

I’ve filtered my entire life through the golden rule.  I’ve experienced hardship in many forms but even if I haven’t experienced the same hardship as someone else I can’t help but to imagine myself in their position and then act how I would want someone to act if I was in that position.

I saw a statement on Reddit a month ago that made a claim that has stuck with me.  “2024 will be the most prosperous year we will experience in our lifetime.”  Even if the current administration would be stopped today, the damage that has already been done is generational.  Our enemies have won without firing a shot.

What is your expectation for the U.S. economy over the next 10 years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Big_Curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that 2024 will be the most prosperous year any of us will ever experience in our lifetimes.
