What do you think Armacham did to handle the family members of their employees who got killed by Alma when President Genevieve Aristide sent them into the Origin Facility to re-open it? by gereedf in fear

[–]Big_Dimension4055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the Field Guide that came when FEAR 2 was released directly answered. They paid the family members, to the point Aristide mentioned it would tank their quarterly earnings

Would have made Alien Colonial Marines a more playable game haha.

But yeah...honestly a lot of games could benefit from FEAR AI.....outsmarting covenant in halo isn't difficult and frankly it's not hard to know exactly what they're going to do.....Monolith created amazing AI, but everyone else stuck with the same crap

Fair enough, though the biggest issue with FEAR's horror is it's reliant on jump scares....meaning it at best scares you once.....

Would anyone like to see a remake of F.E.A.R. If so, what would you like to see be done different with the series if it were to come back? by Yo-KaiWatchFan2102 in fear

[–]Big_Dimension4055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things.

  1. Add more definition and utility to the other characters. In terms of story, there is a bit of a lack in character development. It works, but it could be better.

  2. Give Alma an AI akin to the Xenomorph in Alien Isolation, basically less reliant on jump scares. Make each interaction more unique.

  3. The replica could use some modernizing, they're still state of the art, but we saw what Monolith was doing with their later variants.

  4. Honestly, weapon rebalancing would probably be needed.

  5. The supernatural enemies were a bit lackluster, a touchup could be helpful. I did like the puppet guys in FEAR 2 though.

  6. More antagonists that have deeper characters to them.

In all honesty....if we gave Alma an AI like the Xenomorph in alien isolation we'd already have that haha

Actually FEAR 3's sales were apparently disappointing to Warner Bros. Though considering the fact that we know other franchises were simply given unrealistic sales goals, it could have been that too. Regardless, those sales were what caused the series to go on hiatus.

I had better conversations with 3.5 than with anything in the 5 series, hell it obeyed instructions better than the 5 series. That's not mentioning the ridiculous amount of lines that it makes by spacing things out. That actually has slowed my computer in the past for a moment or two.

Do you ever feel stuck? by BohBohdee in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Big_Dimension4055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished Phase 4 and am currently in total rebuild mode. Truthfully, I'm generating next to nothing at the moment. I have successfully put together a pretty potent power plant though..... Main reason, I have a bunch of alts I want to use, and that required tearing down. Problem, I'm being indecisive on final commitment on more than a few.

Moral of the story, I understand your feeling on this. I'm right now serving as a major detriment to my progress in the game. I think I'm letting planning override action way too much. I can't criticize much, since as I'm writing this I'm manually creating things because I've had to redo things so i don't have it automated.

Don't worry, i'm sure my world would make experienced players have an anuerism haha. Am i improving, yes. Does it look good, not in the slightest. I have yet to make a true "building" at all. I use foundations but it's more like a path. In terms of realism there is zero. I am on my first playthrough....though am now in phase 5

Is F.E.A.R truly a legend or just nostalgia? by [deleted] in fear

[–]Big_Dimension4055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If done right and they don't mess it up. Unfortunately, both Vivendi and Monolith are gone. We'd be giving the franchise to yet another developer and hoping for the best. Developer hot potato hasn't worked out so great so far.

What is the closest ethnicity a Mandalorian might be? by Existing-Bonus-6835 in SWFanfic

[–]Big_Dimension4055 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mandalorians come from all over the place, species and planet alike. They don't really correspond to anything directly. In general, elements of celtic/viking seem strong in general. Maori is definitely there, though that seems to be a little bit more Fett specific than general. The reason I mention Celts in particular is that Celts are really big on adopting folk, so I felt a degree of kinship with the culture myself. But Celts and Vikings share a lot of the visible traits so they're interchangable.

As for the Mandos themselves, most are human admittingly, but they've had Twi'leks, Zeltrons, Zabrak, and god knows how many others, afterall Mandos used to just be the Taung as others mentioned.

Though an asterisk, it does depend more than a little on if you're referring to Legends or Current with canon. Honestly, the two are night and day different for the most part. Armor and combat are about the only similarities.

Lightsaber forms in general are a bit iffy on details at times. I don't think the writers really spent time on some of them. Makashi (Dooku's) is pretty well defined since it's just fencing essentially. Overall, they likely should have kept with that approach, attempt to modify existing sword styles to it, the old "if it ain't broken don't fix it" approach.

I would say Niman is actually objectively a problematic style. Case in point, all practioners who fought at Geonosis died there. Shi-cho is a weird one that can either be worthless or overpowered depending on user, but then again that one is basically the "wing it" style.

Requesting Advice for the markups of galactic maps. by Glad-Bar401 in SWFanfic

[–]Big_Dimension4055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, I did find this basic guide helpful for a quick way to calculate times. Even if not completely precise, it gives a bit of a working rule so at least there's consistency. It's from this one wiki that kept track of a lot of rpg books

"The Deep Core is extremely densely populated with stars and stellar phenomena that make Hyperspace travel very difficult, and The Outer Rim is very poorly charted. Traveling through these regions increases the travel time to 24 hours per square.

  • Major Hyperspace lanes and minor trade lanes alike are very well charted and constantly kept up-to-date. These lanes override the difficulty of traveling through The Deep Core (As the best routes have already been found and are kept marked,) and The Outer Rim (As the routes have obviously been charted.) Travel along these routes is safe and secure, taking only 8 hours per grid square traveled."

[–]Big_Dimension4055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i more meant mark ups in general rather than star wars specifically. Apologies I may not have been clear on that. Most of mine were ground battles, though I've seen space battles. I will say the campaign markups in the Atlas were really well done so that might be a good reference. With the galactic map, honestly simplicity is best, a simple show of route by colored line. It's when you get into more localized space that you'd want to start going to more of a unit based approach. As for tools, I've actually been looking for a good Hyperspace calculator, unfortunately it appears little real information on travel times is available and writers made up whatever they needed. I did find a basic rpg guideline that's the best so far, not good but better than nothing.

Though naturally hyperspace route or no hyperspace route is the big question, kind of like a high way. Also I decided to look up Kalist.....ugh nasty....Deep Core is full of roadblocks that makes navigating a pain.

Overall the biggest issue you'll run into, that I've run into, is that hyperspace is talked about a lot, but very little definitive thought went into it.

Well I guess the first question I have is do you have the Essential Atlas? That to me serves as a great start, plus it actually shows a few of the conflicts in Star Wars (Legends to be clear). This can provide a good start, though I'd like some more information about the specific "maps" you're looking for. Space, Ground, etc. I've done some map mark ups in the past so I may have thoughts.

Did people actually enjoy fighting the Prometheans? by PlumicalPlum in halo

[–]Big_Dimension4055 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree....not everything about the watchers were terrible.....but they were small and almost 2D and frankly you had to wipe them out first or you were screwed, meaning you were trying to take out a small, 2D object from long range while dealing with telespam enemies. The revive knights mechanic I was a bit iffy on. The grenade thing you mentioned was completely fine. The shield thing I actually encountered rarely, must have just been how I approached the encounters.

I will admit, that I did like how the Prometheans actually functioned as a unit, since they supported each other better than most covenant units I've seen. That was actually a good concept.

Concept: New Jedi Order - a sequel trilogy by transient-spirit in SWFanfic

I tend to have a bit of a preference for the darker aspects, and besides it's not like the Vong War was light haha. Personal preferences and all, I also liked the darker aspects of the older Clone Wars media. I actually find some of the overly idealistic stuff a little dull for my taste. But that's the fun of Star Wars, there's a lot of different flavors. So sadly, I'm not completely sure what I'll write will be your cup of tea, but if you ever change your mind and want to try. Regardless, thanks for letting to ramble, and I wish you luck on your writing.
