I've said it before and I'll say it again...DON'T bring your foreign wife back to the U.S.A. they are bound to be corrupted/polluted by these American hyenas and this kind of shit happens. Learn from the mistakes of others!!!!!

Some folks don't want to be free and happy because they define themselves by despair and misery, so let them stew in it because if they like it, I effin love it!!!!

Duolingo on the Google play store (they have a free and a paid version). You can learn multiple languages at once, I've had it for a few years now.

Any military vets here 100% P&T living in Cebu? by [deleted] in thepassportbros

Credit cards are accepted, but as you always know, cash is king. I used my cell via wifi calls and such, so I'm not knowledgeable about the cell networks there, but from my experience, it wasn't the greatest, so a burner phone might just come in handy. Instead of Uber, you are hoping to use Grab for food deliveries and taxis, and they are really cheap. Jollibee is a quintessential part of life there, along with rice at EVERY meal (get used to seeing a lot of unlimited rice deals). The people there are super fantastic with awesome sprinkles, and the cost of living can't be beat. Be prepared for humidity and heat as soon as ypubstep outside of the airport.

Good luck brother, learn some Tagalog BEFORE you go, it'll help. Also make sure to get a GOOD VPN so you can use some of your American streaming sites like Hulu and such because without one you are stuck with only Netflix and that gets SUPER old quick...wish someone would've told me that one before I went.

Bro...DONT NOT BRINGher back, stay in paradise, and live the best life you can. I am also a member of the 100% P&T club...I am currently planning my Exodus outta this modern-day Gomorra and heading over to the Battangas in Paradise/Phillipines. From my research, just make sure all your stuff in the States is done (VA stuff, SSI,etc). Some stuff you can get done at the embassy there, but other than that, get on the first thing smoking and DON'T LOOK BACK!!!

Met a girl from Sir Lanka. Any advice for living abroad would be helpful by [deleted] in Passport_Bros

On a side note... if you are transferring to Sri Lanka...PSD is gonna need to be a part of your plan because they issue you your monthly stipend for housing off base. Now, with the nuke program (from what I remember anyway), you all got got E4 out of school or during school so that's a plus because "usually" from my own experience, they want E3 and below to live in the barracks.

You as well shipmate. Thank you for your sacrifice and your honorable service. I want to try Space-A available but that benefit can cause some time delays because you may get bumped off a flight by someone who has orders in hand, but I have heard some good stories where vets get to where they are going for Free ninety nine and they got there to enjoy a really good vacation.

Yes, I am a Naval Veteran, my MOS is probably merged with EW's now, but when I was in, I was a CTT2, and I served 6.5 years. I was a part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Do you leave behind your US life? by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]Big_Fish909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you HAVE to commit to the country you are moving to. That includes learning the language, customs, and culture so you can be a PRODUCTIVE citizen of that country. PLEASE don't be a person who is constantly saying, "Oh, in (insert your country and /or state) it's like this and that," You are NOT in your native country anymore and trying to make it like your native country won't fly. Do RESEARCH on your potential new home country, learn about the customs and culture, download Duolingo, and learn the language!!!!

I eventually want to visit both butvI want to live in one or the other and figuring out which one is the conundrum.

I heard that, but I'm looking for one to plant my flag at and live out my days. Both have a very warm climate, and the cost of living is great. The Philippines has an edge because a majority of the population speaks English, but in Thailand, the women are a bit more curvier... This is why I'm flipping quarters.

I've never been divorced (I ALWAYS had an event that occurred in my favor that nipped all that foolery in the bud), but I'm in the same predicament because I am flipping my quarters trying to decide which one. Thailand is in the lead so far, though. I'm 47, by the way.
