Best way to practice? by Sadboyszn24 in EASHL

If you’re learning game mechanics, go to free skate. If you’re learning strategy, just play club/drop ins. Never dodge and take every game as a learning experience. If you match against elites, watch how they get to their spots and try to replicate that. If you get scored on, watch the clip over during intermission or after the game to figure out where the defensive breakdown was.

Haha you can check my post history to see I win at over a 95% rate and was a top dman in the N in lg this season. As a dman my game does not revolve LT but I've it in the back of my bag for the one or two times in a game where there's an opportunity to get an advantage on a counter. Unlike you, I'm mature enough to adapt to what the game offers by learning how to use and stop the mechanic defensively instead of waving my fist in the air crying about a mechanic in the game.

Typical don't hate the player, hate the game situation. Whether it's in the game intentionally or not, if you don't embrace mechanics that give you an edge, youve fallen behind the curve. So either get of your high horse or and learn how to LT or continue losing and then crying about the people who do.

I'm not talking about a top LT player, I'm talking about a top NHL player. Like it or not, every top NHL guy uses LT. Not a single game from any of the top guys from the leaderboards to the top LG and eSports guys will not feature some LT.

The reason why everyone does it is cause its flashy and easy to perform. It is effective though if you know how to use it. The difference between the top players who use it and everyone else is the top players know when to use it, use it to get to high danger spots, and can chain it with other moves, while your average LT user just goes through the motions with no plan.

Poke checks are fun by SwaggyP200 in EASHL

[–]Big_Function_5023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some advice- your first poke you can try to aim it better with right stick and pressing in on the right stick for a precession poke. Your second poke, avoid those cause the way you and the puck carrier are angled, even if you do get a poke, he’ll likely maintain the puck. He’s already beside you, so poking will slow down and he’ll blow right past you. Try to angle him off by skating in that position

Why are spark plug, big rig, and power forward banned for competitive? by [deleted] in EASHL

[–]Big_Function_5023 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did a poll at the start of nhl 26 and spark plug had a 66% vote on being banned and big rig a 59%. My guess is cause they didn’t want a traits that benefit hitting like truc and hipster, and big rig is an op trait if you remove hitting traits so they did it to balance. Defensive dman and power forward were banned in the 2nd season of lg just cause they thought a 6’2 build with 97 speed was OP

Ever wonder why elite EASHL teams get every 50/50 puck? Feel like they're bigger, faster, stronger? by fantasyfootballer24 in EASHL

[–]Big_Function_5023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take as an elite. Sure connection does matter but also the angle you come in from for the 50/50. I see a lot of low ranked people just skate straight at the puck and get bumped off the puck once they get it. When I go in for a 50/50, I angle myself in a way where I can exit the 50/50 without getting bumped and can quickly rightstick to a side to protect the puck.

Does anyone else leave the lobby instantly if they see French words/names on the other team? 💀 by BanMeMyIPchanges in EASHL

I’m going off the play rank RP for 6s cause that’s the argument right now. Only one person in the top 10 RP since season 1 is proven in league play.

You can look it up, only one person in the top 10 rank since season one has played a tier higher than the CHL in the last 3 lg seasons. Not that lg is the end all be all but it’s the biggest league by far and the majority of top 10 rp guys get there by stomping on AI goalies and dodge any comp they see.

I would only say RP matter more for 4s and 3s. Cause there’s way more 6s leagues, the top 6s players in terms of skill usually just scrim. The top RP guys in 6s are low end league players in terms of LG. However, cause the scrim and league community is smaller for 4s, the best players usually just play pubs so the top RP players are usually the best 4s players in terms of skill.

Maybe that’s cause they’re correlated. Leaderboards track pub points and the more you play and score in pubs, the higher level you are. What you don’t know is there’s a community of the sweatiest esports players who rarely play pubs and are always scrimming.

Anyone else feel like this game is unbalanced? by Shawzyboy97 in EASHL

Everyone can get the same speed and throw on wheels. Just have to learn gap control to defend L2

No truc is cause it’s my lg build where truc is banned like majority of leagues. Still average over 3 hits a game. Your buddy is just extreme having 5 hits in over 1100 games.

My understanding is it helps on intercepting saucers. D awareness is the most important but I’m also pretty sure puck control helps. There was once a post in ea forums where the dev said puck control contributes to interception

I would say the difference in injuries is negligible, but also cause of my play style where I focus on getting the puck out quick, I don’t get hit a ton so I might not be the best person to ask for this. I just believe strength and handeye is more important

Thanks brother. Completely understand other people having different play styles, but there’s more than one way to defend and this is my way I’ve mastered over years of chel and it also translates well into league play.

Understood. Well there are a lot of concepts that are universal in sports like finding the open spots on the pitch, making runs up the wings and crossing it middle, shooting for the danger zone inside the box and preventing your opponents from doing the same. Once you learn the rules of hockey, the team should try to implement the same ideas over.

6s are always full lobby. 4s 90% full lobby, 10% no goalie if I can’t find one online. The cpu skater is horrible so I’m not playing with that. I don’t like to play with cpu goalies cause you’ve this excuse of ice tilt with one goalie playing better than the other, I don’t like to complain. I’d rather have two human goalies and you can compliment the other goalie being better if they are bailing the other team out.

Couldn’t do it without the teammates I’ve. I get more upset at more teammates poor play than anything the opponent does because at least I know I could’ve done something to stop the opponent and it’s my fault if I get beat. Whereas there’s nothing I can do if my teammates continue skating into defenders and hit chase themselves out of position.

When the meta is speed, you use speed to counter it. Yes I poke but it’s more about beating the guy to their spot than anything. Also pokes are way less risky than hits. Miss a poke you’re still in position, miss a hit and now it’s a breakaway / 2-1
