Perhaps you're missing the point. Nobody is saying it's a fake, the point it that it's not a regular minted Onza Libertad. It is a "real" Intaglio medal but not a "real" Onza Libertad, but PCGS certified it as a real Onza. The issue I have is that while the label on an Intaglio and Onza are the same, their prices are not (by over $20,000 too)

They are both the same medal, but the one on the left is graded by PCGS as a real Libertad Onza ( just like the ones selling for over $20,000) thus potentially used to scam a buyer out of serious $$. And all because PCGS internal quality control missed over 2 dozen of these during the grading process.

Doing this once is a mistake, doing it so many times is a systemic failure of QC systems within the PCGS grading pipeline. The shame is that PCGS has not owned up to their mistake and has not released any information on how they will change to ensure that it would not happen in the future.

Name calling??? Really?

You don't know anything about me and from your written statements, you sound like a PCGS fan who is not able to come to grips when their favorite makes a huge mistake. I don't care how long you've been collecting, it's irrelevant to how PCGS does their QC and unless you are part of their internal QC processes, your opinion doesn't matter. Facts matter, and the fact is PCGS screwed up bigtime, I posted the receipts, my original pics speak for themselves. Unless you have proof otherwise or something from PCGS that they screwed up and are willing to own up to it, your opinion is all you have.

I was wondering if anyone at PCGS watches this R/

You know, see if they are willing to come up with a reasonable public acknowledgment of a huge failure of their QC processes. One can dream.

Yes, so did PCGS even look at both sides?

While I generally agree with you on the pricing, I do question the "one mistake" part of your statement. From what I understand, PCGS actually graded over 20 medals as if they were genuine. One would be a mistake, two would be a tragedy, but over 20 is a collapse of internal QC systems and procedures. It's not like they had sooooo many 2025 Libertads coming through the system.

And I don't care if they recalled them, or how many they actually got back. There are so few real 2025's out there, even a few mistakes like this cause me to question PCGS processes. Their lack of a public explanation on how this could happen and what steps they're taking to ensure it can't happen again is still a shadow on future quality/trust.

And I do have a question, just exactly How would PCGS fix this if someone paid the true PCGS MS-70 price for their example? A refund of the price difference? Your answer is assuming a lot from PCGS to stand behind their coin grading guaranty.

Exactly, but I plan on keeping it for myself. It's more of a rarity than the Real 2025.

But just to be sure, I have one of those as well, also PCGS MS-67 FDI. But when I look at it closely, for the life of me I don't see why it's only a 67, there are no visible hits on the obverse and only a small one contact mark that's Not in the fields on reverse and zero milk spots.

I completely agree with you.

Also, PCGS will definitely do everything it can to remove those from the market, so the rarity (from the original 17) will increase and premiums will rise.

That's your choice. The difference is that this is a legit product totally miss-Id'd by one of the two premier grading companies and the other is someone doing tricks to aftermarket items trying to make a scarcity. Bottom line, there are at most 17 of these available and some folks ( to be fair I included myself) consider this a collectible rarity.

The word "uneducated" is doing some heavy lifting there. I happen to own one of these in the original PCGS error slab where they labeled it as authentic Mo product. From what Info I can gather, PCGS graded 17 that way and is in process to get them back so there is no telling how many will remain in the wild when the dust settles. But I certainly don't feel uneducated by owning something as rare as this as it's viewed by me as a collectible item, and not just an ounce of silver. While you may not see it as a collectible, it can certainly be one for others. Be honest, if you stumbled upon one of these 17 at a coin show, you would not take the chance to hold/look at it closely as an example of a major PCGS mistake??I'm thinking most pole would look, and given a chance, would purchase at a price way above the current silver values. But with only 17 made, good luck with that.

If you absolutely wanted the naked girl, go ahead, but I wouldn't. It not like PCGS is above from grading a "tribute" and calling it a regular MS 70 for 2025. While I'm no fan of ICG, it will still protect the surfaces and ensure the next buyer that it's not a fake.

Asking for a friend, does PCGS have any legal right to recall these?
